Hi All,

So i see Royal Plaza Hotel is having a 60% sale. It says its an offical Disney World Hotel. Does that mean that I can add the free dining?

Also, they say it has "Disney views". I know its across from DTD, so is that the view they mean, or can you see any of the parks from a certin room?

Basically, im looking for any info from people who have stayed there.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Well, it's been 20 years :)

No, you won't be able to get on the dining plan.

The Disney View would just mean it faces Downtown Disney I suppose. You won't be able to see much other than the tops of some of the park attractions from there (and I would imagine, only Epcot's Spaceship Earth).

I don't know what they mean by 'official Disney World hotel' because they are not a Disney resort. Sounds to me like they are trying to trick people into thinking they are affiliated with Disney and offer the same perks. If you stay there you will not be able to use the dining plan, extra magic park hours, or the ME. I guess you just have to decide what is more important to your family and go from there.

Free dining is only offered to Disney OWNED hotels; they are not owned by Disney.

They only offer complimentary bus service to the parks, but it is every thirty minutes or so.

They also state you can get "priority seating" for restaurants and dinner shows. For those that don't know Disney speak - that means you can make reservations ahead of time, just like the rest of us do when staying on-site. They make it sound like you get the best seating in the house.

Basically--if you want to stay "on site," you'd be better off a Disney moderate resort for what likely would be the same price, factoring in either Disney's room only discounts or free dining.

I haven't stayed there, but I've seen outside photos of this hotel, which looked pretty nice. I know you can't always judge a book by it's cover, but I drove by it once, and it had no appeal for me.

You can only do the Disney dining plan when staying at a WDW resort, and the Royal Plaza is not a Dinsey resort.

That said, we've stayed there twice when they've offered a great deal. I recently got an email for $89/night and I think breakfast. The rooms are large, larger than our room at the Wilderness Lodge for considerably less money. Nice pool, we walked to DTD and could see fireworks at night from our window. The buses run every 30 minutes but don't leave you quite as close as the Disney buses do.

They also fit a family of five (two queen beds and a pull out love seat) so it's a good option at a good price for those that need it.

The hotel is one of the first pick ups for the Downtown Disney hotel bus route so we always had a seat. The folks that boarded at the hotels across the road often had to stand.

We prefer to stay on property but once in a while they've had a deal to good to pass up. We had two pleasant stays there, I'd recommend it if you got a great deal.

They're not trying to trick anybody into anything. Hotel Plaza Boulevard is part of Walt Disney World (the road and the property are owned by Disney - one of the "Welcome to Disney" archways is at the entrance to the road as you turn from 535), so all the hotels on that street including the two on the corner facing Downtown Disney are, with Disney's permission, "official Walt Disney World hotels".

We stayed there for 1 night last year and the room was very nice. Large bathroom, very clean and nice. We could see the MK fireworks far off in the distance.
The downside was no balcony, which we like and the pool area was pretty basic.
We had a car so can'tcomment on the bus service.

Might want to crunch the numbers on a moderate with free dining. If you have a car have tofigure in price of parking at hotel and parks.

I do think that those who are not familiar with the perks of staying at a Disney "owned" resort, could be let to believe that this hotel would include all the amenities of the Disney owned resorts. The mere fact that OP asked if they could add the dining plan shows that there is some question as to the designation "official Walt Disney World hotel". I think it can be confusing.

At Royal Plaza, which of the tower rooms face WDW and have view of the fireworks? Any other advice about staying at RP?
