Has anyone stayed here recently & used the Universal Meal Deal? I read that you pay per day, and it looks like you can only eat in the parks, not at the Universal resorts - is this correct? I only see one restaraunt that offers breakfast - so my guess is that we'd be stuck eating there every morning on the meal deal unless we pay OOP. Comments please!

I'm a die hard Disney fanatic (just got back from AKL in Dec.) - but DH just informed me he has a conference at RPR/Universal at the end of Feb. - so we'd be staying free, and can fly free with FF miles. Universal has a great park ticket deal right now of $85 per person per WEEK - so it's much less than even 1/2 the cost of PH or MYW tickets. I just don't know if I can stand being that close to WDW & not go...can anyone convince me/disuade me/give me your thoughts?? DSs are ages 6 and 9.

You will probably get more feedback if this is on the Universal Board but I will try to answer your questions. There are a number of different meal deals at Universal but to my knowledge, they all involve the parks not the resort restaurants. We have done the meal & a movie deal in the past which has a small choice at some of the City Walk restaurants with watching a movie there. There is also a 1 and 2 park meal deal which allow multiple meals (not drinks) at some of the counter service restaurants in the parks - if you get the 2 park deal, it also includes a dinner at some of the City Walk restaurants.

I prefer Universal and suggest you jump all over the opportunity of staying there. You may find that your older son is an ideal age for the parks and if your younger son is adventurous, you may never get them off Spiderman.

I replied to your other post - meal deal is very limited now; used to be more expansive in terms of where you could go but now just fast food in a few places.
