I have never been to Universal before, but I really want to stay on-site, since I understand hotel guests get some kind of unlimited Fast Pass to the Universal attractions, and that would be a major perk for me.

I also have looked at a promotion on the website for stay four nights, get two park tickets for free. I don't know if that offer is still going to be going when I do go, but that seems like a good deal.

I was just wondering if anyone had any reviews.

We have stayed at RPR and PBh, usually RPR everyyear, as we love the peacefulness of the resort. As for promotions, price it up individually, as it will usually work cheaper buying your own tickets and just booking the room.
I think you will not be disappointed whereever you stay as all resorts are lovely and service is usually excellent, so just decide which themeing you think you would like better.

I think Royal Pacific would be my first choice, as it is the cheapest. And it would seem a huge step up after spending a week at Pop, LOL.

disneyfav4ever, its our fav as well, we have been spending our vacation 3 weeks at the resort for the last few years, although we are going to the beach for a week and then spending our last week at PBH this year.
But we really enjoy our stays at RPR plenty to do and food at all the resort eating places are very good, we enjoy spending the day at the pool till it closes and have some food at the Bula Grill so we do not have to leave the pool

Bieng the cheepest does not mean its not luxury trust me!!
Like the OP stated buying packages are more expensive.Right now they got all week for$99.If you buy them now(no telling how long there going to last)They are good up to the time you first use them-be it 2yrs from now!!
Then you can shop the Loews or Universal site for the best rate at RPR.AAA has diff rates and the Super Value Weeks you can get some good deals!!
Hope this helps...:thumbsup2

like the other homies said, price out the hotel and tickets separately.

you usually get a better deal by booking room only and tickets separate.

if you have the AAA card, you can get a sweet discount on the ticket passes and when you book the room on site.

you will enjoy staying at RPH.
Universal does not have a fast pass but an express lane for on site guests.
those express pass plus cards can be purchased for those not staying on site but they are limited to using the cards once only per ride/attraction.

FOTL is the term used by many that stay on site.
you do not get front of the line but unlimited times going thru the express lanes for all rides and attractions.

in my over 25+ stays on site, i have only once used a package for UO.

The RPR is definitely my home away from home. It's just my favorite place to stay in Orlando. You should check out the reviews on TripAdvisor. You'll see the good and the bad. The only complaint most people have is the $15 a night a parking. It's a Loews thing though. They charge for parking at all their hotels.

I don't think parking will be an issue. I think we'll be taking DME to Pop, and then a taxi from Pop to RPR, (or wherever we end up staying, the more I read about RPR the more I want to stay there though,) and then a taxi from RPR back to the airport.

We can enthusiastically endorse RPR! Tropical like the Poly, but a much more elegant atmosphere. The pool is terrific, the staff is friendly and helpful, room and amenities were first rate. You'll enjoy your stay, but really like the unPoly price!

I've stayed at both Poly & RPR and I prefer RPR. I'm planning on staying there when we go in a year and half to celebrate my half-century birthday (yikes that sounds so old when I put it like that - but heck it's how you feel and I definitely DON'T feel anywhere's near half-a-century old :rotfl: )
