Sorry,it's taken me so long to post this report, but with ALL the NEGATIVE things I was hearing about the Royal Pacific prior to our departure,I felt I needed to post this now!

We(DH,2DD,17 &15 and myself)arrived at Royal Pacific Friday morning, bright and early,to take advantage of our FOTL.Because it was so early,LOEWS FIRST check-in wasn't opened yet,but we were greeted by Judith, who couldn't have been nicer.I gave her my card and asked if an upgrade was available. She said the hotel was almost full, but she would see what she could do.Yes,there was an upgrade available and we had a beautiful, large room in Tower one on the sixth floor. We overlooked the pool and lagoon.
We put all our things away and headed to the park.
When we retruned to our room, there was a bottle of wine and a cheese/cracker and fruit platter waiting for us with a note, reading that the management hoped we enjoyed our stay and if there was anything that they could do,please let them know.I assumed this was the fruit platter I had asked for,but later that evening, our fruit bowl of persimmon, mango, kiwi, star friut, pineapple, orange and apple arrived.
The next day,I was concerned about housekeeping and would our room be done when we returned from the parks. That day,we came back early(noonish)to enjoy the pool and the room was done.It was done EVERY day upon our return.
We had aGREAT time at the Royal Pacific, won't hesitate to go back or to recommend it to friends.Restaurants were very good!
My favorite freature to the room is the adjusting night light in the vanity. The thing I disliked(It's a LOEWS thing)allowing pets.Sometime early in the morning before thing were cleaned, you had to watch where you walked.

My daughters enjoyed the pool area while my husband and I liked Jake's.
Oh,At check-in I asked if there was a "Welcome"gift and as the gifts hadn't arrived,we were given a certificate for a family photo.I thought they might try to sell us a"Package" but we received a FREE 5x7 family photo taken outside by the pool area.

Hi there...

Thanx for the trip report. I stayed there in August last summer - just after it opened and really enjoyed it as well.

How did you enjoy the parks?

>>^..^<<

We've been to USF/IOA many times and always have a great time.I was surprised that it wasn't as crowded as it's been other years over the holidays. We also ate at the Hard Rock Cafe,Margaritaville and Pastamore-all very diferent and very nice. There's not much to dislike about about Universal!

I think the good is starting to out weigh the bad on RP these days! :)
I know it's fastly becoming my favorite resort.

We'll be staying at RPH in April, in a standard room. When you ask if there are any upgrades how does that work? Do you pay extra or is it at no additional charge?
Thanks, Terriann:confused:

As long as you have the LOEWS card, just take it out at check-in and simply ask if an upgrade is available. There is NO additional charge and it's well worth it. Have a great trip and I hope you enjoy the Royal Pacific as much as we did.

SRRN - We will be at RPH this Dec 20-26. Since you were there during this same period in 2002, I hope you can answer a few questions for me.

Can you tell me how the crowds were during the time y'all were there? Did you have to wait long to get a table at the restaurants?

Were you able to use the pools, or was the water/weather too cold?

How were the decorations? Was the resort decorated beautifully for Christmas?

How long did it take to walk to IOA? to CityWalk?

And last - have you ever stayed at HRH? And if so, how do you think RPH compares?

Thanks for your help and for your trip report.

No11's MOM,

It's a beautiful time to be at USF/IOA.The Royal Pacific has a large, beautifully decorated tree as you enter the main lobby. There is also a large, equally decorated tree outside, just off the convention area. You can see it as you wait for the boat to take you to the parks.

We have gone other years and thought the crowds were much greater than this year.Of course, with FOTL,we never waited more than a few minutes. Most of the time,we just walked onto the rides in both parks. We used "priority seating"at The Hard Rock Cafe,Margaritaville ,Finnegan"s and Pastamore.Again never waited more than 5 minutes, for a table that needed to be cleared.

Walking to City Walk,at a leisure pace, was about 5 to 10 minutes.I kept stopping to admire all the flowers. The gardens are just beautiful!

We were fortunate that the first few days we were there, the weather was in the low 70's and it was perfect pool weather. It did get cooler(60's and 50's) but coming fro m New England, that still felt great to us and my husband was determined to swim everyday,in spite of some cooler temperatures! When we left Orlando,we headed for 5 days in Cocoa Beach and still managed to swim everyday!

We stayed at the HRH last year and although we enjoyed our stay there,I personally liked the RPR.I'm not sure why but I did like "Jake's",a great restaurant at RPR,I liked the pool area better and I liked our room better.Just my opinion!

I hope I've answered all your questions and that this helps you.
If you think of anything else, please feel free to ask.I hope you have a safe and happy trip.
