Royal or Disney? Help me decide!

And you should totally take that suggestion yourself and cruise on the RCI or Carnival.

oh I will one day, most likely RCI out of NJ since it does 5 days and I'm not going to cancel any of my DCL cruises and 5 days to make sure I will enjoy RCI is a good start most likely will have to be after May 2011 since I'll be busy busy busy January through first week in May

Yes! It is a shame when one only cruises one or two lines! :lmao::lmao:. Tell him he needs to give DCL a try! LOL!

I do and he tells me to try DCL, funny thing is he trys to put DCL down when he hasn't even cruised on it. That puts me off cruising RCI, I might run into him:lmao::

We have been on both Disney and RCCL (Brilliance of the Seas). BOS is comparable in size to the Magic and Wonder. We thought the service was terrific on both. I thought the RCCL food was bland in the MDR, although the buffet food was quite good. We prefer the DCL rotational dining. Both Palo on DCL and Chops and Portofino on RCCL are very good. I do like to play blackjack, so I enjoyed the casino on RCCL. I preferred the Disney shows to the RCCL shows. I thought the adult pool area on RCCL blew away DCL's. My DD's like the rock-climbing and the mini golf on RCCL. Although now the new DCL ships will have mini golf and the Aqua Duck. The BOS prices for a Med cruise were about $3,000 less than DCL for a verandah.

We are big DCL fans but we liked RCCL more than we anticipated and would sail them again. Why not try RCCL and see how you like it?

I have done both DCL and Oasis. I love everything and anything Disney but I do recommend trying the Oasis or Allure once. Just my opinion either way you can't go erong. Happy cruisising!!!!

Looking at dates in Jan/2012 and comparing the big 3 that everyone does out of PC and I really don't see any real price difference?

Less then $200 total for 7 days for 3 people?

One person keeps saying you save thousands over DCL and I just don't see it?

Looking at the Disney food thread I don't see how they other lines are so much better?

My wife and I where looking last night(at the food) saying we are in big trouble!

Edit: If you factor in the onboard booking discount then Disney is cheaper????

I would tell you to try the ALLURE Of the Seas over the Oasis, due to the fact that ALLURE will have the Dreamworks characters first, if you want to save money and willing to cruise after March,2011 ,rccl will upgrade Freedom of the Seas on March 27,2010 I got a great rate for me and my son for May 2011 on Freedom, we will continue to cruise Disney for shorter cruises and cruise RCCL for longer they are much cheaper than DCL 7 day cruises and with the dreamworks characters now on some of the ships it makes the deals even sweeter, and far as Carnival goes leave them alone!!!!!

Thank you.
Everyone talks about Disney being the most expensive. I will agree it is at the top but I booked the Allure for next year because of the whole dreamworks thing, figuring we could take a vacation that didnt involve disney for once. (eventhough I plan to hit the MNSSHP the night before)

It was more expensive for a lesser cabin. I am still contemplating canceling and just booking another Disney while onboard in Feb.

RCCI pricing for the Oasis & Allure are higher due to the demand for those new ships & all they have to offer! With 5 Mega ships to fill as well as the rest of their fleet I expect pricing to go down.

I am hoping the same will happen to Disney now that it will have 4 ships to fill!

Also NCL announced that it is building 2 new Mega Ships for delivery in 2013 & 2014.

With all these Ginormous ships cruising the Carribean hopefully prices will go down for all of us!:yay:

I should qualify my previous post. The $3,000 price difference was for a 12-day Med cruise for 4 people in a verandah room.

I just did a comparison of mid-June 2012 Fantasy prices with mid-June 2011 Freedom of the Seas prices, 7-day Eastern itinerary. With our 10% rebooking discount applied, 2 people in an 8D (Family Oceanview Stateroom) on the Fantasy are $2,536.74. 2 people in a Cat F (Large Oceanview Stateroom) on the Freedom are $3,106.22. Even adding back in our 10% OB rebooking discount, the Fantasy is a few hundred less than the Freedom. Of course, I am comparing 2012 prices to 2011 because RCCL hasn't released summer 2012 rates.

Factor in free soda, watching the kids until midnight or 1am for no additional charge, no casino to steal your money, etc... and DCL becomes even more affordable.

I agree. We booked a Fantasy 2012 cruise. I looked at comparable rooms on the Oasis leaving on the exact same day and the Oasis was $1,100 MORE than Disney! There is an urban legend perpetuated on these boards that Disney is always a lot more expensive.

I too compared our June 2012 cruise to a FOS 2011 cruise and with our onboard booking discount and OBC's Disney was a few hundred dollars less than RCCL.

I think too many on these boards have an agenda or a passion. There are lots of choices and they are all good. I know people of all ages (tweens, teens, young adults, childless couples, families, older adults) who prefer DCL. Different people have different likes and dislikes. What one person considers great entertainment, another person finds boring and they are both 100% correct as it is their opinion. I would like to try the Oasis someday, but I am not going to pay more than Disney and we know we like Disney already and the oasis is an uncertainty. We can only cruise in June or August and for now, the Fantasy is considerably less for us.

The Oasis/Allure are also more expensive than other Royal Caribbean cruises to the same destination, not just Disney cruises, because of the newness/uniqueness of the ships. If you look way ahead, the prices of those two also come down.

DCL does have very good prices on some of their cruises. Others, like summer 2010's Baltic cruises, were a great deal more expensive than the competition. However, if Disney is the cruise line you strongly prefer, then it is no bargain to spend less on a cruise line you won't be happy with.

My problem with DCL is the same ports OVER AND OVER AND OVER again.... Four Disney cruises = four trips to Nassau...

The decision to base only out of Cape Canavral in Florida does limit your options on shorter cruises.

The decision to only do "round trip" in Europe has the same impact. Other cruise lines do "start at Barcelona end in Italy" (or something like that) allowing you to see more which ESPECIALLY on a Europe cruise is key to me!

Will they be changing things though with more ship coming on line?

I was comparing PC to keep things even.

I know for me flying into Miami and staying in Miami is going to cost more then Orlando.

I don't understand?

DCL was $3k more, but now you post is is 100's less?

Unless you drink a ton of sodas a day, this amount is really nothing....
And you don't HAVE to go into the casino. :confused3

I don't have any little ones any more, so I have no idea what the hours are on the other cruise lines.
I just took a look at NCL...free kids' stuff til 10:30...a fee for after that. BUT....if you have excursions the next day, don't you want your whole family to be in bed early? That's what we always used to do.
But then, my husband and I don't drink much and aren't likely to want to hang in the bars until midnight or 1:00 am either. I can't really imagine many parents wanting to do that.

There are 3 regular itineraries out of Port Canaveral, only one stops in Nassau. If you've been there 4 out of the 4 times you've cruised on DCL, then it's not really DCL's fault.

New computer, just seeing if I am hooked up.
