Hi did anyone ever stay at the royal hotel, and if so what was it like

If you mean the Hotel Royal Plaza in downtown Disney, we stayed there 3 nights in Jan '08 before checking into the WL. It was very nice. Bathroom was great with a jacuzzi tub. We could see fire works from our room. Staff was very nice and accomodating. Room was large and very clean. Bed was comfy. We had our car so I can't comment on transportion to parks. We ordered room service the night we arrived. Food was good. We didn't eat in any of the restaurants at the hotel. We also get a GREAT price with mouse savers code. If this is the hotel you are talking about and have any specific questions, just let me know.

Granted, it has been over a year, but at the time they were remodeling, and I would say with the remodel they are even better. The bathroom had a separate shower and jacuzzi tub, and was huge! Awesome view! We walked to DTD and even to Walgreens, Burger King, and grocery store, only a few blocks, which was nothing on a cool summer evening, and we were there in August. Most of the sidewalks had trees over them, from what I remember, and well lit also. We also even walked to Chevy's, a Mexican Restaurant, we did these evening strolls after a day at the parks, so it really was not bad at all or we would not have even thought of doing it. The buses did share with other DTD area hotels, but it seemed most people must have had rental cars, because we never waited more than 15 minutes, except one night at closing after the fireworks we waited close to 45 minutes.
All-in-all, though very clean, had a pull out sofa bed in separate little area with a table and chairs near the balcony. My six-year-old loved having her own space. They also had ceiling fans which my DILs loved, they can't sleep without them. Hope this helps, also had a couple of nice little gift shops.

We stayed last summer in a tower room that overlooked DTD and it was beautiful. The beds were very, very comfy and the bathroom was huge with a big tub and separate shower and Bath & Body Works (Coconut, lime verbana scent) shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. From what I hear the garden rooms are pretty much the same just a little less $$ and you don't have the view of DTD which if I had it to do again I would choose the less $$ room because unless you are standing and stairing out the window....the view doesn't really matter.:confused3

Also, F.Y.I. the week before we had arrived they did away with valet parking even though all the signage was still there. I don't know if this is still the case but since they did away with the valet parking they told me anyone can park in the spots right out front that are marked "Valet Parking Only".
