Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

If you're going to do a tasting menu in Vegas, Joel Robuchon at the MGM is the one to do. 16 courses of amazing food and excellent service. We go every year and call it our 13th mortgage payment.

Ok so I'm going to need you all to design me a 4 days of tasting menu dining experiences. I'm not waking up at 3:30am everyday for them but I do want a commemorative medal.

OK - LOVE that you have a Top Chef cookbook. I'm a lousy cook, so probably won't waste my time looking into it.

And, I vote that the troll, in fact, wore it better. :D

I agree about the finale. I didn't know who to root for because of the final 3 I would have been happy with any of them winning. The upside is that it was going to be impossible for me to be UNhappy about the results. It seemed like from what they put forward for the final meal that they made the right decision.

This may be old news to you coffee/disney aficionados out there...but did you know a world of alternate dis-bucks logos exist on the interwebs? Well, I guess they do! I was hunting for a good pic for today's update but now I just want to use these for no reason. :)

WRAP UP from last week:
As you saw I did get my Saturday run in but I flip flopped my Sat & Sun workouts due to not having lots of time on Sat (hence doing the faster pace workout) and having all day Sun (hence doing the easier slower pace.) I am happy to report that this week was accomplished with no weirdo knee ouches or wobbles!
I am not sure if that has more to do with MORE days running or just SHORTER distances on those days. BUT I'm happy about it. And as you will see in my "week to come" summary...I've got longer distances coming up this week and that should help me figure out how this ol' leg is handling everything. I will say that Sundays run felt like literal cake and I had to hold myself back from speeding up...so maybe there is something to back to back keeping me loose. The 3 mi/3mi also isn't the hardest thing in the world, so there is that.

Did I stop and get a Starbucks on my way home of the Sunday run???? Noooo :(
It was spitting rain at me...COOOOOLD rain (thanks a lot Elsa) during my last 1.5 miles and so I was literally looping around my very close to home area so if for any reason a downpour started I'd be close enough to jet home. I'm still I-phone holder-less so all I had was my hand to hold it and I was thinking of "where to stuff it" strategies if the rain fell. It was 59 degrees though. So no idea why the rain was so freezy feeling??? Probably cause of the dumb WIND.

But don't worry, I have Costco size containers of k-cups at home so it's not like I was deprived of caffeine.
I do have to share what was happening in my basement though which was cracking me up.

Yes, that's a plank session going on. I did not join in. The father-daughter burpees were pretty hilarious. She can get up and back down way faster than any of us, but after three she was like "this is booooooring" and went back to playing.

Ok, this one literally makes no sense!!! That's not even a Starbucks product!

Tink training Week #8 = Everything will be GR8T!
Monday: Bachelor is 3 hours long tonight and if I don't get a medal for enduring that, then why am I even watching?

Tuesday: 4 mi EB (weather forecast is 54 and windy...zombies or treadmill tbd)

Wednesday: Mother-daughter planking? aka basement strength stuff
Thursday: 1.5 mi WU, 4 mi Tempo (DOH!), 1.5 mi CD (well this is gonna be a good indication of my fitness and how my knee is doing. I will make sure to be honest about the results. Which right now I'm honestly not looking forward to adding another tempo mile! Are you shocked? :)
Friday: sit on my butt
Saturday: 4 mi EA (ummm 29 deg and snow...great?)
Sunday: 7 mi LR I GOT THIS!

Since my knee has been feeling normal I'm actually very much looking forward to my weekend. Still not so much that Tempo, but I just have to remind myself I was doing a lot longer tempo mileage last fall and that I'm capable.

See this one makes way more sense than that Aurora one!!

SHOPPING TALK!

I was emailed a link to Victoria Secret $30 sport pant sale by my DH which I automatically took as permission to buy a $30 sport pant. (the more I say "sport pant" the weirder it sounds)
I knew I didn't want long ones (b/c I want summer!!!) and I have some capris from them that are just kinda long on me (which is odd because I'm not shortie) so I saw a pair that came right to just below the knee on the model (and since I'm identical in shape and looks to a model...wait nevermind) I went for them. And are you shocked...I got a blue pair.

Yes, they have illusion see through back of knees because who doesn't feel sexy while sweating it up with your back-of-knees exposed? I got them in the mail, tried them on and they are perfect length (crops, not capris) and my back-of-knees look fantastic :)
Packing these for DL in my "just in case it's not shorts weather" even though I hope it will be shorts weather.

And then finally because I'm a sucker for "we have more stock/get them fast" emails I maybe also purchased my very first honest-to-god made-for-running real racing singlet! After bothering @Ariel484 for sizing help and not seeing many pics online of people actually wearing it...I just went for it. Should be in my mailbox with weeks to spare before my Shamrock Shuffle. Now let's see what the weather decides to do aka how I'll need to layer.

Hooraaayyy! Irish twins! I hope you like it! :yay:

Me too...I guess I figure it'd be totally normal to wear again during the year because since I'm of Irish heritage I don't have to only wear it for St. Paddy reasons, right? #justification

Love your InB singlet!! I also really liked all the Starbucks shots and the Maleficent one is my favorite. I'm also frustrated that in that picture your kiddo appears to make planks look like child-play (HA! get it?) and they are agonizing for me!!

Starbucks is my love language/obsession, so combining the 2? I LOVE IT!

I think any rain <70F is cold, so I bet in the 50's it was cold!

I love the new singlet- so perfect for St Paddy's day!

I plan on wearing it to work with a cardigan. ::yes:: #INKnBURNatWork

If it makes you feel better, her planks were about 3 seconds long (if that) and then she was off fluttering around like a basement-butterfly. May I suggest a similar program? Won't help you build strength, but will make you happy :)

It was hard to tell if it was still raining or if the water on the trees were just being blown off onto me. Either way it wasn't my favorite thing.
And I'm just glad my St. Patrick themed run happens weeks after the actual date...more time for cute outfit elements to assemble :)

I am not sure if that has more to do with MORE days running or just SHORTER distances on those days. BUT I'm happy about it.

HOORAY for things feeling better! Glad to see the :tinker:ering has led to ideal changes. I'd venture to guess that the reason it went away is likely both reasons.

Love the plank session and the sport pant! Funny, because when I saw the photo, I thought "is that a plank?" So reading your response ("yes, that's a plank session") was particularly funny! If you receive an e-mail link from a spouse to an item for purchase, that's more than permission - it's a directive to shop! :) I have capris like that in black with all the mesh stuff around the back of the knees - but after wearing them for a run, I realized the mesh goes up the sides too - so those are now basement treadmill-only capris. I like your new sport pant much more than mine!

Yep! Me too!

Me three!

My brain is so dumb right now; it took me a minute to get the "tinkering"
But I'm in agreement. Crossing toes for an ok week.

And your sport pant sounds fancy!!!!

Plank sessions in the basement. Father-daughter burpees. Your family is awesome.

Yay for new running clothing! I'm in a "no buying" period right now, so I'm super jealous. The sport pants look great, and that InB shirt will be perfect for the Shamrock Shuffle!!

This one below gets sung at just about every single event or in every pub for about three months straight surrounding St. Patricks' day. The final line is often shouted at the top of ones lungs if you're doing it right. It also basically lists everywhere that I go on my training runs. FYI: My south side parish is Redeemer and it's the best (you always have to say your parish is the best around these parts.)
@dancingtodisney would probably get a thousand free beers if you ever came to visit this month :)

We're the Windy City Irish-where the craic is always best
Where every day is Paddy's Day and everyone's a guest
If you're Irish on the North Side or Irish on the West
Welcome to the South Side come join our Irish Fest!

(Chorus) We're the South Side Irish as our fathers were before
We come from the Windy City and we're Irish to the core
From Bridgeport to Beverly from Midway to South Shore
We're the South Side Irish-Let's sing it out once more!

Our parents came from Mayo, from Cork and Donegal.
We come from Sabina, St. Kilian's and St. Gall
St. Leo, Visitation, Little Flower and the rest.
The South Side parishes are mighty-they're the best!

Chorus

We live on the South Side-Mayor Daley lived here too
The Greatest Irish Leader that Chicago ever knew
he was always proud of his South Side Irish roots!
So here's to his honor to his memory we'll be true.

Chorus

We sing the songs our fathers sang when they were growing up
Rebel songs of Erin's Isle in South Side Irish Pubs
and when it comes to baseball-we have two favorite clubs
The Go-Go White Sox... and whoever plays the Cubs!

This is AWESOME!! I love it!! I must have missed this tag!!

I've never seen these before! Very cool!

Oh I love the Victoria Secret pants!! I WANT I WANT!!!

These pants seem to do a good job of sucking everything in without making me feel like I'll pass out. Which I appreciate. There's a balance I need of not feeling too jiggly but not feeling like I'm a stuffed sausage. TMI? :)

Plank sessions in the basement. Father-daughter burpees. Your family is awesome.

I think Chris & I both wish we had half the energy as kiddo. I don't think she's stopped moving around once in her life. Total wiggleworm!

It was just too chilly and windy for my taste last night so I went to the gym. My hubby joked that I should just run there, hop on the treadmill for a bit, and then run back. Ummmm...no.

I got the coveted HGTV treadmill which is always my main goal (if you've never been to a Planet Fitness before, they have rows of tvs hanging from the ceiling that are always on the same fixed channels. Mostly big networks...but only one HGTV and no other cable channels outside of ESPNs...I need to start lobbying for Bravo or Lifetime or FOOD!!!) I had foregone my jacket in the car so I didn't need a locker and that was key because I took that treadmill as soon as I spotted it open and literally heard a girl behind go "awww man"
(I'm assuming she wanted that treadmill, I could be wrong though) Whatever, I'm ruthless when it comes to my fave spot!

So I got the very last part of Fixer Upper, One full House Hunters (they should have picked the second house and definitely should not have got in a bidding war that upped their wrong choice house by 10k!) and then part of a House Hunters International. I was bummed that with ~3 minutes left of my workout they went to a commercial break....booooring. And then Living on a Prayer came onto my headphones (yes I listen to music and read the show subtitles because 0% of the PF treadmills headphone jacks into the tvs ever work properly) and that song is AMAZING! I need to absolutely cue that up now for the last 3 minutes of any run.

Tonight is basement "feel the burn" night. Wish me luck. I'm making falafel pitas for dinner if I'm feeling motivated to cook (which I generally always am) :)
