So I guess I'll talk about what I attempted to (and I think at least 78.25% achieved last night) for my "do something that isn't running" Wed night.
I downloaded an app like a million years ago and then subsequently forgot about it. It's call Wahoo (anyone heard of that)
It basically has sets of workouts that are generally weight bearing instead of using weights. Though I could easily throw in light hand weights to a lot of these. It shows little videos of all the excercises if you need a refresher (I DID!) and then you choose one of the workouts and it basically will be like
"Jumping Jacks next"
"GO" and then it counts down 30 seconds on the screen
"Now Rest, planks are next"
"GO" however many seconds countdown
"Now Rest, wall sits are next"
Etc until my whole body wants to die and I have an above average amount of sweat on my sports bra. TMI?
I did appreciate being able to wear shorts in my basement and literally not care how weird I looked while "attempting" some of these things. I had to laugh out loud at myself during the high-knee runs because I'm sure I just looked immensely jiggly and flaily. But I guess that's the point of this, to get sleeker and stronger and less wibbly-wobbly.
FYI: Planks are tricky because they feel easy at first...until they don't. And then you go from super confident to shaky and burny.
Same goes for wall sits and push ups and crunches and pretty much all of them.
But I did it and feel relatively normal today and I think I want to do it again on my other off night Friday. Just to redeem myself a little on some I kind of half-arsed. Namely anything related to a push-up motion.
Fun FACT: My hubby informed me that his buddy who is a police officer had to do a 5 minute plank! during his academy.
ummmm nuuuupe!
So I'll try this thing out again, try the different workouts and then maybe graduate to some of the other things people have linked for me/suggested. In an effort to be stronger than a baby bird
