We are planning to watch the Pixar Play Parade at CA at 5:40. We think it'd be best to watch from the beginning of the parade route so we can leave for Disneyland as SOON as the last float passes.

In order to beat the hordes of people trying to get into DLand when CA closes at 6pm I was wondering would it be a good plan to Exit CA through the Grand Californian, walk through DTD and ride the Monorail around to Tomorrowland? Our plan is to ride Nemo at the end of the day anyway...

Its sounds like a perfect plan or too good to be true? TIA!

Mmmmm.... :scratchin if you're going to watch the parade from Sunshine Plaza anyway (good place-- we watched it right by the gate where it came out next to Hollywood Backlot) that's a long way to go around to get on the monorail. I'd just scoot right out the gate there and cross the esplanade, and go through DL the usual way. Yes, there will be crowds, but that's kind of a long hike to get to the monorail... and then you're likely to have a wait to get on, anyway. I dunno, it's kind of 6 of one, a half-dozen of the other.

So the parade STARTS from the Backlot? I guess I hadn't put that into consideration, I just assumed it was the same route at the EP.... that changes things then.

1. I do believe that the day parade starts by the Sunshine Plaza, going the opposite direction as the DEP

2. The walk from DCA through the GCH, then through DTD (it's longer than I think you think) all the way to the end, then wait (because the monorail might not be there when you are) for the monorail, then ride it to DL will take at least double the time than if you were to simply exit DCA, walk 100ft., enter DL and walk to Nemo.

I was thinking the parade started from the opposite direction in my OP, now that I know it starts near the front of the park, it makes much better sense just to watch it there and then scoot out the gate. :thumbsup2

Even if it did start on the Paradise Pier end, I think it would be MUCH faster to, after you watch the parade, take the path by GRR and RCCT and just exit out the main entrance.

What day of the week are you going? Check the Disneyland (not DCA) parade schedule. When you enter Disneyland, depending upon the day, you could walk straight into the middle of the Celebrate Street Party. It has different times depending upon whether it's a weekday or weekend. Main Street is tough during that time. If this is the case, go into the shops and walk Main Street inside the stores (they connect). You will not have a clear path (as others will be in the shops, too), but it will be better than trying to walk your way up Mian Street during show time on Main Street.

Ahh, good point! Thank you!
