We're taking our 5 year old twins next week and staying at a resort 4 miles from the park entrance. (Near someplace called "Old Towne" in Kissimee). We'll be driving to the parks, so I'm hoping to be able to get back for rest time at midday, at least some days.

Anyone have experience with trying this?

Just keep in mind that just because your resort is 4 miles from Disney property, it may be another 10 miles to the park you want to go to. Disney World is very big.

From POP (which is the furthest out hotel on property) to MK is a 25 minute drive. From that...I would guess that you would take about 30-40 minutes to drive to and from your hotel to MK. The other 3 parks are closer...perhaps 25-30 minutes from your hotel.

"WDW" is approx 45 square miles. People tend to forget that :)

Plan on at least an hour by the time you trek out to your car and get back to your room.

We are staying in Kissimee when we go April 24-May 2 and from all the research that I have done - it is about 25-30 minutes of driving.

Our plan is to be at RD and stay at park until noon or 1pm then return to condo for lunch and swim time and heading back to park around 5pm till park close. This will give us 8-9 hours in the park with 4-5 hours of downtime.

It always surprises me when I am leaving the park at noon or 1pm, how many people are just arriving. You can get so much done if you are there first thing in the morning - it is cooler and way less crowded.

Have a great vacation!:dance3:

it's about 25-30 minutes of driving to get to the front gates of WDW-not the parks. It will be much longer to get to say the MK. If you want to be at rope drop at 9am...I would leave NO later than 7:30 (morning show starts at 8:50). That will give you enough time to go to TTC, take the monorail to MK and get there in time.
