Rough Rides

Ok, yesterday my doctor told me I can't ride "anything rough or aggressive" while in Disney. Kinda bummed out. But I'm kinda lost on memory

I know the following rides are out of the question:

MK: Space Mountain

HS: ToT, RnRC

Epcot:Mission space

AK: EE, Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl(not that I'd ride it anyway)

Are there any others you'd suggest staying away from?

AK - The Safari Ride...it can be real bumpy

Many guests report that Kilimanjaro Safari is a no no if you have a bad back.

I should be fine on TSM and Kilimanjaro. BTMRR is probably gonna be a no ride for me though.

I told him I know my limits but I'd be careful. I just don't wanna miss EVERY ride because the car/tram jerks a little coming back into the loading zone.

Hollywood Studios: Star Tours

You do alot of spinning on Toy Story Mania, but such a fun ride

I guess it really depends on what kind of movement bothers you.
I think Mission:Space (the green side) would be milder than the Safari.

As far as coasters go, RnRC is much smoother than BTMRR or Space, but still rough compared to something like Soarin.

I actually find ToT to be one of the smoothest rides there, much smoother than even the Safari at AK. Straight down, straight up, rinse, repeat. I'm kinda assuming from the way you posed the question that you've been on it before and if you think it's too rough, that pretty much seals it, but if not, I wouldn't cross it off the list just because it's a thrill ride. It IS an intense ride, but it's not in the same category as anything else you mentioned in terms of throwing your body around.

Depends on what kind of motion causes a problem. ToT doesn't jerk you forward and back or side to side, but if you have back issues, I could see it causing problems because it does push you up and down a bit.

fair point

Star Tours can be a little jerky.

One good thing about WDW is that even if you skip the rough rides there are SO MANY things that you CAN enjoy there. The rough rides are just a small handful (at most) of what the parks have to offer. :flower3: I skip some of those headliners and still have a fantastic time.

OP - not to get into your personal life but why can't you do the "anything rough or aggressive" rides? If you don't want to answer, that's fine.

I have a broken neck and it will probably never be 100% but after 5 years of not riding the "anything rough or aggressive" rides, I was cleared last year. Before that, though, my husband I agreed I could ride the Safari, Kali River Rapid and Mission:Space Orange because of how I could place my head and I'd be fine.

It depends on your type of injury and no one here can tell you what you can or cannot ride.

You can err on the side of caution and I encourage you to do so. But I go back to my first sentence.

To make a rather long explanation short(and this is still going to be lengthy)

I have Hodgkins Lymphoma(lymphatic cancer) and I'm on chemo.
I have a few small tumors in my chest one or two of which are near my lungs. what the chemo does(obviously) is dissolve those tumors. and basically my doctor said that the tissue around my lungs is weak because of this and could be damaged by being jerked around enough.

So i guess i cant ride anything Rattle-y or Jerky

Dinosaur for example.

I feel like Star Tours is a lot less jerky than dinosaur. so i'll probably ride it.

Sounds like high g's would also be a bad idea. While ToT is smooth, you will get negative and positive g's... probably wouldn't chance it myself given your circumstances.

I would suggest sitting in the front of the truck if you do the safari and in t he middle on star tours. Just ask the attendants. Those would be the least jerky spots on both rides. I would think splash would be ok. The one odd one that comes to mind is winnie the pooh. It can get pretty jerky!

I would think you could just follow the 'expectant mothers' warnings, then. It's roughly the same reasoning why not to ride :)

Ride restrictions are printed here: http://allears.net/tp/rr.htm

Hope that helps!

One of the posts on page 2 lists all the attractions that Disney has put warnings on, plus my best guess of what about the attraction is causing the warning.
You can use that list to discuss with your doctor and figure out which might meet the doctor's criteria for too rough.

The attractions with warnings are marked with a red triangle symbol on the park maps and are marked at the queue entrance and also at least once before boarding.
