Definitely a petty thing for the poster who supposedly euthanized their cat over ruining their furniture. They aren't bugs, they are family members.
well since you lack the facts, i'll break it down for you.....
Cat was 13 yo. still healthy, no medical conditions. Cat was extremely antisocial to anyone but me and my wife. She would literally trap family and friends who came to watch her, hissing at them, and making them fearful. Some friends stopped coming over to feed her if we left for a weekend. We never left her alone if it wasn't an overnight trip. we would always have someone come over to play or feed her instead of an automatic feeder.
The cat peed on our bed twice. I convinced the wife to forgive her after the first as she had been mistakenly trapped in our bedroom for a day ( I thought she was out of the room but she snuck back in before I closed the door).
The cat ruined a new furniture set (she was declawed), the spare bed after a week vacation (family member came every day to be with the cat to feed and change the litter).
another weeklong trip a few months later would have been disasterous to the remaining house. We tried to find a placement, but due to her aggressive nature, she wouldn't have been.
i even had a vet call me after my wife dropped her off, to come get the cat as they couldn't handle her. she got out of her cage and attacked anyone that got near. I had to leave work and drive across town to get her as I was the only one that could handle her in her fits. A VET!!!!!
so when our daughter was born shortly before and was starting to crawl.. the cat stopped being a family member and became a pet.
house and kids came before the cat, and as hard as it was to do, it had to be done.
sorry you feel the need to condemn me for uthenizing the cat, but it had to be done. Rather than dump her somewhere, I know she is in a better place, free from her kitty anger issues, and playing with her mice friends.
I don't feel guilt over the decision, just saddened that she wasn't able to be friendlier, as we'd have still had her if the antisocialness wasn't there.
