RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

I have been following this thread and it will help me plan my mid January schedule. Thanks everyone!
Is it possible that some delays are due to additional media groups or celebrities entering the ride. It may not have broken down every time there is a stoppage? If so, hopefully things will settle down a lot after the holidays; for our trips in mid January ; ).
There's easy ways to get celebrities in and out with minimal shortage. They can go through backstage areas to access rides and not disrupt the regular operations. If they do want a full, empty experience it might take about 20 min to go through the whole thing
My DD works at MFSR and the emptied a whole side and turntable for Ariana Grande and crew and it took about 20 min of disruptions

Alright, I need some advice. I'm going to be at Hollywood Studios next Thursday (19th.) I'm staying at Pop and planning to Uber/Lyft to the park, just need some guidance at what time you all recommend I try to arrive.

An interesting day, since die hard fans will be headed to theaters that evening for the new Star Wars movie... maybe makes it less likely so many people would show up early?

Still probably best to see what Tuesday and Wendesday look like, a big unknown here is how crowd sizes will grow over the next week and impact when boarding groups are all handed out. Then you an decided on a sliding scale from earlier to later where you are OK getting in at.

😂😂😂 I actually laughed out loud!!!! That was great!!!
This is sounding like a word problem on a math test

If Bobby leaves by car 15 minutes after Jan headed to the bus stop, but Jan just missed the DHS bus, how many boarding groups will Jimmy be behind Jan if the Skyliner is not running?
Now, assume Ariana Grande has entered via secret celebrity backstage portal. How much delay time will there be before free bananas are offered?

So far we've seen plenty of days where they couldn't get through all the BGs in a day and handed out FP or whatnot, but I wonder what happens on really good days where they get through the queue quickly? Wonder if they would release more BG later in the day?
I leave tomorrow and, family willing, I'm going to be there stupid early either way on Saturday, but today it looks like they're clicking along pretty good (hope I didn't jinx anything).

We haven't seen that yet so not sure. My thinking is they probably just let it cycle through, high five each other, and let maintenance/etc get to work on it early

Now if they are done and still have several hours left in the day, maybe they open them back up but I don't think they would bother if less than 2 hours left as that is the return window

Also Thursday is the first day annual pass holders that are Gold and below are blocked out. So guessing Disney is expecting the surge in crowds that day as well

Plan on going next Wednesday during our week long trip. Hoping to take a Lyft from the Poly at 5am. Anyone have any experiences with Lyft as we have never done this before? Thanks for the great info in this thread, I've been watching this like a hawk trying to get prepared.

We didn’t use this until last year either! They make it very easy. Install the app, on your phone and put in the destination you want to travel to. You will see little car icons circling on the map that are in your area. When your driver accepts and confirms your ride pick up that you set when you are ready to go, you will get the name, driver’s picture and make of the car. I believe you get the license plate number too. Then you wait until they arrive. You can see the car driving towards you on the app! You can upgrade for a larger car for a minimal amount if you prefer. You pay after the ride with set card info. No money is exchanged. Good luck!

We’ll be there stupid early with you on Saturday! ::yes::

One report had a CM ask a pair of folks into the line, who did not have a boarding group. I could see them doing that if there is marginal time left in the day.

I do wonder how much time they need on the overnight cycle to reset things, and what time that allows imagineering to further tune the ride for better reliability. I imagine they have a decent amount of data to point in the correct direction for solving current issue. I'm still curious to know the leading problem, whether it's perceived as hardware or software issue.

Do you want an early BG or later one? If you want one for the first couple of hours, arriving by 5:30 looks good. If you are ok with later in the day, I would show up no later than 7am.

Been reading through pages of this info. I couldn’t get a room on site (value)-. What time does parking lot open? Trying to be one of the first few boarding groups as I am just in a two full day trip. Thinking of getting there 4:30 am- but need to park.

Assuming the airspeed velocity of an unladen Mynock...

The main takeaway is that arrival time and entry time are not 1:1. Boarding Group availability seems like it would follow an s curve, where less than one Boarding Group fills every minute at the beginning of the window but more than one fills up per minute at the end.

2:00: BG 66.
Hmmm. Only 1 BG added in past 30 min.
Anyone know if it is down?

They have 7 hours to fill 30ish BGs. They've already filled 66 in 5.5, so we might yet see what happens when they get all groups through early.
