RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

The more I read, the more I feel like I'll be skipping this next week. I'll be back in January and fingers crossed it'll be more manageable by then.

I so so appreciate everyone who's shared their experiences. It's only going to help the rest of us who rely on these boards for the best tips and tricks!! You're definitely taking one for the team! :worship:

I really don’t think they would have a leg to stand but I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on the Internet. No different than a ride being down for the duration of someone’s stay.

My assumption is that sooner than later resort guests will have some sort of advantage for ROTR, and (hopefully) sooner than later ROTR will be capable of running near full capacity and with much better reliability greatly helping out when the BG sell out by.

Everything changes when it is reliably running at full capacity. They'll have more options to try and accomodate as many different groups as possible. They could allow EMH guests to book BGs 1 though 10 and 11 through 77 odd numbered BGs only as soon as EMH opens, etc.

Maybe park at HS and then after you scan for a BG take the Skyliner to EPCOT it’s a great form of transportation
I'm staying on site at BWI so I won't have a car but we will definitely plan to go to HS 1st and early. I had planned to be there that afternoon to evening but switching things up to plan to be there early and be prepared to leave and come back if necessary. Only issue I have right now if a Flying fish reservation at 7p that I might just move to a later time since the park closes at 8:30.

I just don’t get how these communications decisions are being made. Managers are either purposefully lying to guests or showing a reckless disregard for ensuring accuracy. This isn’t the generic “park opening” which you know may be early. This is a very specific statement designed to set guest expectations and affect behavior. Better to say nothing than a falsehood. Or just say boarding groups may open “as early as _____ “. This is a very unique situation with the VQ and guests deserve either the truth or at least a statement saying that they cannot provide a time and leave it up to the guest to decide what they want to risk. But don’t make a very clear operational statement which is just not the truth.

I don’t think there would be a liability but Disney did allow non resort guests into the park before they turned on the VQ.

I doubt it also. But genuine liability isn't always necessary to incur significant court costs to prove there was no liability.

More importantly, CMs don't have to deal with an argument that far too many slighted guests would use because they personally would perceive it as legitimate.

Just a guess on my part, but I wouldn’t count on the Comp tickets continuing for much longer.

I think by telling everyone that you might have the chance to ride they can easily tell everyone sorry but we warned you but Disney does go over and beyond so anything is possible

Would this really be any worse legally than telling guests an exact time BG would open and then doing it much earlier shutting those people out?

Yes it’s the dishonesty that is bothering me the most. Been a DVC member for 20 years & just don’t think this should be part of Disney’s M.O.

My rule of thumb here is never ascribe to malice what can more easily be explained by incompetence.

They’re still figuring out how to make this smooth, the attraction is literally only on its 4th day.

Not really because all guests had an equal opportunity to log in and book a BG. I see opening the VQ early as no different than opening the park early. It's something they do frequently.

My point about off-site guests is if they had no opportunity at all - regardless of how early they were willing to come to the park - it would make for a lot of difficult conversations for customer service. I'd think they will always make sure at least some can get in just to avoid the hassle of dealing with that argument.

Quick question: when selecting a boarding group, do you select the individual people who will join the BG similar to setting up fast passes? Or, does your entire MDE group have to join a BG together with one click?

i.e.: can one person in your MDE account show up wicked early and join a BG and then another member of your MDE account show up a bit later and get a higher BG for themselves ?

Rides go down all the time without warning and previous announcements, Disney covers themselves. I would be surprised to hear any decision made this morning were because of legal repercussions.

There is something that Disney legal does the best: disclaimers. I noticed them everywhere and on everything (part of the trade - my FAVE example is the release and warranty on the wall of the queue at Laugh Floor). Check out your tickets, emails, etc. There is nothing guaranteed and they have no liability. Everything given to appease is just that - customer appeasement. So, if someone complains to Disney about this, they give FPs, tickets, etc. But there are no damages even if the comp is refused. If anyone asserted any claims, I can’t imagine any attorney taking it up (even less scrupulous ones), and I don’t realistically see legal fees/costs issues for Disney.

I have a question I haven't seen answered yet (it may have been and i just haven't read all 12 million posts about ROTR, in which case, I apologize for asking again): Can you get a Boarding Group for ROTR if you already have 3 FPs scheduled that day? Or do you need to give up one of those FPs in order to get the BG? I'm perfectly happy giving up any of my FPs in order to score a chance at ROTR, but just wondering if it's necessary. Thanks in advance.
and there we have it folks. We have our Disney Happy ending. We were all drawn in and has suspense and drama but we got the happy ending we all wanted.
Yes! It was great!!! I am going to do my tier 1 FP+ and leave DHS to take a nap 🤣. I’ll see how I feel later before deciding whether or not I should head over at 5am again 👍🏻
