If 2000 per hour is the target, then they are somewhere near 50% which seems like maybe one half of a 2 track system is problematic.
It's day two, and they didn't really do any soft openings to stress test it.
They seem to be adapting to what is being thrown at them despite the crowds. They'll continue to adjust opening times, virtual queue strategies etc. A bit of a trial under fire for the cast on the opening team. They'll continue to learn to be more efficient inside the attraction.
So not a flawless beginning, but a more positive one.
Rather than keep someone waiting in a 3+ hour line to have the ride stop, I think the virtual queue is a good choice for this. I would be nice if maybe they staggered the availability of groups a bit more. Lets say they release limited amounts randomly through the day? That way they have a better idea if they'll actually be served. So lets say boarding group 1-20 released at 6am, 21-40 at 8am, 41-60 at 10am and so forth.
No matter what happens or the strategy used, somebody will be left out, which will be disappointing to them. However we deal with it for every other ride in the park with refurbs, unscheduled mechanicals, weather and so on.
The only issue I see is the early opening.
Perhaps open the first boarding groups 1-20 for the pre-opening time. Then allow the 21+ groups to open at scheduled opening?
