once you were called in, where did your queue start?

A room with basically nothing, right before the room with Rebellion Pilot suits and helmets. After about 15 minutes it moved very steadily all through the preshow and first “ride” and into the stormtrooper room. I was shocked how fast it moved after waiting so long.

But once the moved on to the detention cells, we were sent to the right and didn’t move for a good 10 minutes while group after group of people behind us were sent on straight. I knew our side was down but it took them forever to actually move us over. Then, once they did we were loaded onto the ride vehicles, but they couldn’t get the side doors to lock shut. Took 3 different sets of CMs to come in and look at it before they let us go.

If I had been 5 people further back in line I would have probably been off the ride 30 minutes earlier, with a much more fluid experience. As it was, total experience time was just over an hour.

I think everything between the Rey room and the actual ride were my favorite parts honestly. The ride was cool, but a little underwhelming after how great the rest of it was. I was expecting more thrills. Impressive for sure, and the huge delay probably hurt the immersion for me. First Order CMs were amazing.

So after a 2 hour nap, a dip in Stormalong Bay and a refreshing Pina Colava, it’s time to head back for our 50’s ADR and to hopefully see the drone testing which is apparently taking place tonight.

We did get another boarding group. It’s 142 so not holding out much hope but you never know!

Do we have times for the drones? I thought they were going to surprise us this morning and fly them but once I got a better view it was a helicopter haha.

I was sitting at the exit for about an hour while guests walked off and the "exec's" were asking them about the experience. I really didnt hear any negatives.

Guessing that the ones that would complain are the ones that didn't get a boarding group or those that have one but don't get on the ride. From what everyone is saying the ride itself is great.

Oh that's interesting! I haven't been following closely since I'm not planning to go for a bit. Is this how the line will be forever or just for the opening time?

Literally no way to know. The ride just opened today.

Not official but apparently 6:30 and 8. I was the same and was hoping they would surprise us this morning!
Any you recognized? I tried to read name tags, but nothing was ringing a bell.

How did you get into 2nd boarding group?

You could request to join another one as soon as yours had been called and I believe your MB had been scanned. There were CM’s in the queue telling us to do it so we could ride again.

Some of the people that had a low boarding number first thing this morning were able to get another one after they tapped in for their return.

while the ride itself at face value is impressive, there are other rides much more compelling eg. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Mystic Manor, PotC Sunken Treasure & upcoming Beauty and the Beast ride

I just assumed any of those boarding groups would have been super late in the day, especially since almost no one rode right at opening. I’m guessing they got in another group before actually riding? So they got a return pass AND a 2nd boarding group.

Forgive me, but what are those rides? Are they at other theme parks? I'm not sure how you can say an unreleased ride is more compelling...

I believe those are rides at other Disney Parks in Europe and Asia.

Yes. You could get your second group after you tapped in.

I doubt they will use it forever, but no telling exactly how long it will be an option....it's a dynamic system (Meaning they can activate and deactivate the boarding pass system anytime, multiple times in a day if needed) that they can use whenever the crowd sizes make it reasonable to do so. I do think this will become the standard for all new rides going forward to manage crowd control when they first open, and possibly something they keep in their back pocket for other times if needed.

They are at other Disney parks, and the BATB ride that will be opening in Tokyo has released some videos of their animatronics. They are truly mind blowing, so I think the PP's assessment is valid even if the ride isn't open yet :)

The tie fighter drones were supposed to be a one-time thing for the media event, similar to the dragon that appeared during the opening of New Fantasyland.

I can't seem to find any footage/photos of the drones from the media event though. Anyone wanna help with that?

Those rides will unfortunatly never see the light of day in any of the US parks. So I do believe that this is the best we're gonna get with this kind of technology.

So what you're saying is that this is the best one in the US?

This is the first trackless ride in the US. Soon WDW will have three trackless rides with Ratatouille and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Each ride tells it’s own story.

I of course haven’t ridden yet but I would say this is the top ride in the US if not the world in terms of just tech. It’s up to each person to decide whether it’s compelling to them.

I also don’t know how one could declare a ride not yet open more compelling. Beauty and the Beast will surely be fantastic in Tokyo however it’s not simply because of AAs. RotR has three A1000 AAs which are of the level that will be in Beauty and the Beast.

Well it has seen the light of day. RotR takes tech from those attractions and uses it. Don’t forget there is another trackless ride coming to DHS next year that will also be a technological marvel.
