I was trying to figure out the rotation of the meals and it looks wrong.

Saturday: Rotation (P,L,A)
Sunday : Rotation (L,A,P)
Monday: Formal (A, P, L)
Tuesday: Rotation (P, L, A)
Wednesday: Mexicalifrag... (L, A, P)
Thursday: Formal (A, P, L)
Friday: Small World (P, L, A)

But this can't be right because that would mean that you would eat rotation in the same restaurant twice. Is the rotation different on the Western route than the Eastern route?

Thursday is semi-formal, not formal. That's the only thing the looks incorrect on your list. The rotation is the same on the Eastern as the Western, you would eat in the restaurant that you have on your first night three times and the other two twice. :)

what does 'semi-formal' mean exactly? I just assummed 'semi-formal' is what ppl dress when eatting in Lumeires during reg. nights. If so, why do they have a special night set aside for semi-formal?

That's pretty much it, Princess...nice dresses or pantsuits for women and suits or sport coats for men. You'll also see a fair amount of people who just dress in the regular casual clothes as well on the semi-formal night.

My point is that with the Western route you would eat Rotation twice in the same restaurant - for example on the PLAPLAP you would eat Saturday and Tuesday in Parrot Cay on rotation and therefore would miss the Animator's rotation dinner. I believe that on the Eastern Caribbean route Formal dinner was on Sunday, not Monday and therefore it would work.

Is this correct or did they change the order for the Western route?

Thumper1.....I am confused by your post. On the Eastern formal night is Sunday, on Western formal is Monday.

You would still eat in Animator's on Monday and Thursday on the Western.

For PLAP rotation on Western:

Saturday - Port Canaveral - Casual - Parrot Cay
Sunday - Key West - Casual - Lumiere's
Monday - At Sea - Formal - Animator's Pallet
Tuesday - Grand Cayman - Casual - Parrot Cay
Wednesday - Cozumel - Mexicali...- Lumiere's
Thursday - At Sea - Semi-Formal - Animator's Pallet
Friday - CC - Small World - Parrot Cay
Saturday - Port Canaveral

I am not sure what you are trying to ask. We chose to request the ALP rotataion for our upcoming Western Cruise on 8/3. This would put us in Lumiere's for Formal nights and Parrot Cay for Mexicali.

mmouse37 - when would you eat the Animator's Pallet special meal just for that restaurant?

Let's get this straight: first there are three dinners "rotation dinners" with a special menu meant for just that restaurant, hence Parrot Cay, Lumiere's and Animator's Pallet have their own menu. You are supposed to eat these menus once in their own dining room. The rest of the scheduled dinners are served at the same time in all three of the restaurants.

If you look at the examples, both mmouse37 and my examples, you would be missing out on one of the "rotation" dinner/restaurants. For the "rotation" dinner for Saturday/Tuesday (both casual) you would be eating in Parrot Cay, on Sunday Lumiere's (casual), the rest of the dinners are specially themed where the three different restaurants have the same menu, therefore you would miss one of the individual dinners for the different restaurant.

Have they changed the order for the restaurants? On the Eastern route the first formal dinner is on Sunday, on the western route the first formal is on Monday. Hence the discrepancy.

sat casual animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu
sun casual animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu
mon formal animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu
tue casual master chef's
wed casual mexical.....
thu semi formal captains gala
fri casual small world

no special menu for the formal night

Thanks Atigeg!

Glad to see you're home. Hope the cruise was great! I can hardly wait to read your trip report.

That was weird having no special menu on formal night-- which for us, was in Parrot Cay. It was strange having all those fun Caribbean dishes dressed up in a tux.

I think the IDEAL rotation would be APLAPLA: both dress-up dinners in Lumiere's, Mexicalifragilistic in Parrot Cay, and Master Chefs in Animators-- which we always skip anyway for Palo. You would also be casual for Animators and Parrot Cay regular dinners. And you wouldn't have dinner more than twice in the same resturant (if you skipped a night for Palo).

:bounce:
I just got back from the May 25 cruise and found alot of people may have packed dressy stuff but by the thursday semi formal night alot were wearing the casual.
Don't get me wrong there were people that wore formal stuff on that night but there were also people wearing simple sundresses and pants.
As for the rest of the night the later in the week people got more lax about what they wore for dinner. Sooooo by Friday night some men had shorts on and polo shirts.
Here is the info I came up with for the dinners.

sat casual animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu (I wore a capri pants and sweater)
sun casual animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu (I wore a skirt and sweater)
mon formal animators/parot cay/lumiere's menu (I wore a cocktail dress) Some tuxs but awhole lot of suits!
tue casual master chef's VERY YUMMY!! (I wore a skort and sweater)
wed casual mexical..... (People wore shorts and tropical stuff)
thu semi formal captains gala ( I wore a nice black dress but other wore sundress and formals)
fri casual small world (free for all!! Everyone wore very casual) too tired to care.

I personally think the formal night should be on thursday the captains gala night. Make it more FUN!!! I didn't understand at all why we had to dress up for the monday formal night when we didn't have the FUN menu to go with it! I kept asking the other in my party the same question. They all agreed!! They also agreed that the dinners were more fun on those night with out kinds. The kids are too tired to have the fun.
I did love the late seating for dinner, but the kids didn't. For us I would feed my 3 yr old and then take her to the club to play. She was way too hungry for the 8:30 dining. But she loved the way I did it and it made our dinner relaxing for us. Alot of others I talked to did the same thing.
Some people wished they had when we taked to them. Feed the kids and let them play in the kids clubs.
Oh well back to reality!!
:D

We requested APL rotation for just the reasons you mentioned. I like being in Lumiere's on Formal nights and Parrot Cay on Mexical or Tropicali nights.
