Rosie's gone...

Ding Dong the witch is gone, the witch is gone.

I was under the impression while watching the argument that it was about the fact that Elizabeth did not defend Rosie against the right wing pundits and Rosie stated that she felt that was cowardly. Now, like Rosie or not, I think it's pretty obvious that she has NO problem defending herself. If she was really hurt that EH didn't come out publically and defend her, she's certainly got that right, but I think calling her a coward was a step over the line. I also heard the original comment Rosie made and I don't think she meant that she felt the troops were terrorists, but that she understood why the Iraqi's might feel that way. It seems sad to me that it went this far. If they had truly been friends even with their differing opinions, it's a shame that this came between them.

ANYWAY, the View will be a lot quieter without all the yelling, but also a bit less interesting. I'm sure Rosie will land on her feet somewhere else if she so chooses, and I hope when she does she gets a worthy opponent to spar with.

Did anyone hear the story about Rosie's assistant? WPLJ radio was reporting that her assistant had gone through the View studio and put mustaches on pictures of EH! The DJ's said that the assistant was "escorted out of the building". If it's true it was a really childish act on the assistant's part.

:guilty: Sorry, but I think you're way off base. I think Rosie was deeply hurt by Elisabeth's actions. She considered her a friend, despite their differences of opinion. Elisabeth did not act like a friend. I've been in her shoes and I could understand why she felt that she couldn't sit across from her everyday and pretend nothing had changed. She felt very betrayed.
:confused3 So does being friends with Rosie mean you can't stand up for own views on anything? Thats why I've never liked her. She talks over everyone and no matter what the subject matter, she has no ability to let others share the spotlight...its all ROSIEROSIEROSIE....which gets to be overwhelming after just a short period of time. I don't care who she sleeps with, votes for, parties with or contributes to, just shut up once in a while.

I believe Rosie was hurt by Elisabeth's lack of support. Combine that with the ugly things said about her by D.Trump,Sean Hannity, Geraldo, O'Reilly, Scarborough and others at MSNBC & FOX.... Why is it necessary to call someone a fat slob, degenerate loser just because her political views are different. Whatever happened to 'free speech'. Rosie was PAID to express her view....

I think Rosie made the View way more interesting. I'll have a lot more time in the morning now!!

I went to a taping of the show a few weeks ago and I have to say, Rosie was the only one to interact with the audience. I saw a side of her that I really liked. Every commercial break, she was near the audience answering questions and joking with the audience. She was down to earth and genuine. I was not a fan before the show, but I am now. The show will continue without her but it won't be the same.

I agree that Rosie was hurt - whether she ought to have been or not, she was. This mistake was in bringing it up on the air. If it was an issue between friends, it should have been handled privately, between friends.

By bringing it up on the show, she basically goaded Elisabeth into responding. And the producers of the show didn't help. They should have cut to a commercial as soon as things got heated, and tried to calm the situation down.

Based on what I've seen of Rosie on the View, she does not seem to be able to "let things go" or "agree to disagree". Even when she was friendly with Elisabeth, I thought it was more friendly condescension. "I'll be nice to you Elisabeth, because you just don't know any better."

Being on the show was obviously taking an emotional toll on Rosie, and since she has said that she already experiences depression, it is probably for the best that she not finish out her contract.

Huh? It has nothing to do with standing up for your own views. It has to do with clarifying intent of something that your "friend" said knowing that what they meant was not malicious. Elisabeth *chose* not to do that, but instead let the rumor/out of context message continue as if it were the truth even though she had an opportunity to correct it. And then when Rosie confronted her on it, she got defensive and mean (IMO) and said it wasn't her job to do that. Rosie was understandably hurt by that.

Let me preface this by saying I like Rosie and have always defended her but please, she's been taking digs at Elisabeth for awhile now on her blog. She also treats her like a child, taking down her constantly since she came on the show. Elisabeth finally snapped and stood up to her and like the other poster said she 's now packed her toys up and gone home. To put this all on Elisabeth is ridiculous to me.

If EH's job was to defend Rosie from the above, the poor girl would never be able to do anything else! They've all made a career of bashing folks that don't agree with them, that's the way they use their free speech. I'm kind of amazed that anything anyone of them said would actually hurt Rosie's feelings. It's not like they travel in the same circles or that she would take any of them seriously.

I'm wondering if there wasn't more to this whole thing than was on camera.

I think Rosie was mad/hurt at the wrong person and taking it out on the wrong person. She has a right to be angry with the news shows that pick on her or pick apart what she says but she seemed to hold Elizabeth accountable for what Fox News and others say.

She insulted Elizabeth more than once, belittling her because of her "youth" or asking her if she can hold "two thoughts at once" and then calling her a "coward". edited out unconfirmed 'bigot' comment I think Elizabeth showed lots of restraint until the other day's fight. Elizabeth never called Rosie names or insulted her even when she was spewing those conspiracy theories or explaining that terrorists are humans too bologna.

Good point and one in which with I agree.

That's not what she was doing, she was asking Elisabeth if SHE (Elisabeth) thought that ROSIE thought the troops were terrorists.

And if Elizabeth did hold that opinion? Personally, I don't think that's what Rosie meant, but maybe EH does. Can't she do that? Or can she only hold opinions that Rosie approves of?

I saw it. I know exactly what happened. All I'm saying is I think Rosie's anger the past few days was at all the news shows twisting her words and she chose to deal with it through her fight with Elizabeth. That is my opinion on what happened. Yeah, she wanted her to answer the question but she was already pretty angry all week. She wanted to vent using Elizabeth. IMHO.

Agreed. If only more people would have the guts to say what they mean and mean what they say regardless if it goes against the tide of popular opinion. I'm not saying Rosie is right or wrong. But she has an opinion and I think it's great that she isn't afraid to voice it.

People with big mouths are hard to find?

:lmao:

Didn't watch pre-Rosie, during Rosie...won't be watching post-Rosie. :rotfl:

Me too.

But I think it says a lot about her that she turns tail and runs after that. The gracious thing, of course, is to come back and work things out with Elizabeth. She couldn't stand the heat, so she got out of the kitchen.
