Rosie’s trip to Orlando Day 2 Seaworld, and Disneyquest.

Saturday 9th April 2005
We got up early and had a light Breakfast of cereal, juice and coffee. :sunny: It was warm and sunny and we were all raring to go - especially DH with his new digital camera. We got to Seaworld about 9.20 and headed straight for Journey to Atlantis. We all rode it and were surprised to come off dry. DD and I then headed for Kraken . DH and DS were a bit hesitant and finally admitted that they didn’t feel up to it yet. DD and I loved it! :Pinkbounc

I headed off to make a priority seating for Sharks Underwater Grill leaving the rest of the family to stroll around. We decided to eat at about 5.00pm as we wanted to see Shamu rocks America at 6.45pm. We met up in the Aquarium – don’t miss it. It is so beautiful and the kids were entranced. They stayed about an hour and really weren’t ready to leave.

We saw the Shamu Adventure which was great :umbrella: and wandered back to the Hospitality Centre for lunch. We didn’t enjoy the Ice Tea (yuk!) but everything else was very nice and left us in the mood for another show. We knew we wanted to see Pets Ahoy! But we weren’t prepared for how much we would all love it. It could have been conceived and performed just for us. We really are suckers for pets and we laughed all the way through the show and even met some of the performers afterwards.

During the afternoon we visited the Dolphins, Turtles, Rays and Manatees. :goodvibes The Dolphin Nursery is a lovely place to spend half an hour, watching the mums and babies playing. We also did the walking version of the Wild Arctic. The setting of Wild Arctic is great and it was very atmospheric. Most of the animals looked ok but the Polar Bears should not be in there. I seriously hate to see the stereotyped movements and dead eyes of predators who endure this kind of confinement. It made me very sad and is the only example of a poorly kept animal I saw in Orlando. :sad2:

We went to Sharks Underwater Grill for dinner and of course to see the Sharks. It is a very impressive place with floor to ceiling aquariums full of Sharks and the food was ok. My DH didn’t enjoy his food, (he had Chorizo stuffed Chicken,) but the kids and I did. DS and DD both had Hot Dog and Fries from the kids menu and I had Trio of Fish which I enjoyed. The kids got to keep their Shark cup holders which they are delighted with. Service was a little slow so we only had one course and then headed off for Shamu rocks America. Both Shamu shows were very entertaining and the skill and bravery of the trainers was astounding. DD was particularly impressed and loved Shamu and his family. Sadly, the park was closing and so we had to leave. But it was only 7.15pm and we had eaten and weren’t yet exhausted. Where shall we go then? DISNEYQUEST!! :grouphug:

Unfortunately it took a little longer then we had thought to get to Disneyquest. We toured the whole of WDW including some parts I don’t think guests are meant to see. Eventually as we were about to give up and head to the Villa we found it! :Pinkbounc The lift journey to floor 3 was fun and when we got our bearings we headed for the Aladdin’s Magic carpet ride. DS is the gaming expert but he hated it! We decided to try the River Raft which was more fun. Cyberspace Mountain was our favourite of the evening though. I did ask how much it would cost to get one at home and was told by a CM about $2.5 million! Around 10.30pm we headed back to our beds, tired, happy and excited about what the next 13 days would bring!

PS. I am struggling to get these trip reports on here in the formats I would like to. Can't get photos to appear! I'll try again later

Nice job, Rosie. Looking forward to seeing your photos. It's always extra fun to see things from another's point of view, especially when that POV is coming from someone who has taken such care in their planning and who took full advantage of the fun offered. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you enjoyed Seaworld, I think Shamu is the coolest! loved pets ahoy too :Pinkbounc

Thanks for a lovely report. I love Sea World too, I have not tried Disneyquest yet, will probably go this year seeing as you have access with the Ultimate ticket.
