Rosie O'Donnell to replace Meredith Vieira on the View!!!

I just finished watching "The View". No mention of Rosie. They must be waiting to do the announcement when Barbara is there.

Well, the news of Rosie taking Meredith's place is all over the evening news shows so I guess its true!

It's funny hearing what people think of it (other celebrities I mean). Most say they can't wait to see Rosie with Star (because of the fatty comments).

Edited to add....they will announce this officially at the Day Time Emmy Awards tonight!

I liked her on her own show- she just has too much of an agenda now, I think. Don't know how she will be on there.

I totally agree... I LOVE LOVED her show and was sad to see it end. And then she came out and started all the political junk and all and now she pretty much annoys me. I guess a part of me will always like her but after all that, I don't know. I especially don't know how well she will blend in a group not being just by herself on a show.

I really enjoyed the rosie show and will tune in to see how the personalities all blend. Should make for good tv. I enjoy elisabeth & star, but not Joy or Barbara. Funny to hear how some like this one and and not that one, etc. To each his own.

(Sorry to the Star Jones fans...but I cannot stand her after she made comments about animals and fur. In fact I could no longer watch "The View" after that. )

I remember when Rosie was a guest on The View once and Barbara asked her to hang around for the next segment. Rosie did and it was about feminine issues and Rosie couldn't handle it. She was really embarrassed and I think she excused herself if I remember correctly.
Now Rosie isn't "America's Favorite" anymore....matter of fact I think since she came out she grew a set. Seeing her and Star go at it might be very interesting.

Argh. This has to be the worst and weirdest decision the View could have possibly made. I fear that it will make the View the loudest and most opinionated show on TV.
Even though I disagree with her on basically everything, I feel really sorry for Joy in this decision. She is decidedly the 'comedian' on the show, and Rosie will be seen as competition. If you think about it, everyone on the show holds some demographic and this is going to disrupt the balance of the show, IMO. Joy and Rosie will be constantly trying to 'one up' each other and it will spin out of control. Mark my words, Joy will be the next to go.
Meredith was always the one to reign in the others, and with her gone it's going to be a free-for-all. They should have picked another newsy anchor woman type as a replacement.

Yes, that is where I found out about it since I was at the school all day working on the dance decorations for tonight. Barbara & Rosie were on stage & announced it.

ICK! Thanks for the confirmation though. I stopped watching about a year ago because I got sick of everyone talking over each other, I was having alittle hope with someone new, but nope, not gonna happen. I don't think this is a wise move at all.

I think Rosie is a bad choice. I can't think of a person I know (irl) that can stand her anymore. She is beyond outspoken; she's rude and obnoxious. I can't imagine the other three hosts being happy with this decision. I think Patricia Heaton would've been more of a balance with Joy & Star on the liberal side and Elisabeth and Patricia on the conservative side. Three vs one when the three are as loud and opinionated as those three are just going to be too hard to stomach, for me at least.

I think I'll watch Price is Right when I'm home.

Wow, I need to come on the CB more often! This news is so strange. I don't think that she's the right person to be on the view. I really don't know how I feel on she being there in all. She's definately an odd choice and not one I would have expected. Oh well, maybe she'll surprise us all and be great.

For all those that think Rosie should not have been chosen, who do you think would have been a better choice? So far, on this thread, I've seen, Kelly Ripa, Patricia Heaton, and Ellen Degeneris (sp). Any other recommendations?

I think The View is looking for a lot of spark and static in a co-host. Rosie will undoubtably deliver this.
