We are unable to get reservations at the Rose and Crown Dining Room due to a planned event and we really want the Fish and Chips. Has anyone had success going into the Pub area and getting a seat/served without a reservation? Also, is it appropriate to or can we take our DS5 in the Pub part also?

The Rose and Crown Pub seating is extremely limited. It is not a restaurant. There are only 4 tables with chairs and 3 or 4 or 5 tall standing tables. The tables are generally full all the time although you can wait for one to open.
Good Luck

It would be easier to get fish and chips outside the pub at the Yorkshire Fish and Chips stand. There are tables and chairs adjacent to the stand and also on the other side of the R&C restaurant.

We got there one time...all 6 of us....right at 11:30 and were able to get a table (s) to seat us. Plan to get there early!!!

Thank you for the feedback. I didn't realize there was the quick service. That works out even better.

Is there any other place to get the sticky toffee pudding that R&C serves?

Use the quick service & sit outside at the patio. it is WAY cheaper!!!

1) Fish and Chips are cheaper outside at Yorkshire.
. . . buy the food
. . . find a table along the walkway
. . . if the stars are aligned, maybe find a table inside the Pub
2) The pudding is a restaurant item, not available in the Pub, and I don't think it is available elsewhere.

Just be aware that the fish outside is not the same as inside. I believe inside is cod and outside is farmed, freshwater pangasius--a sort of catfish. I won't eat it.

for the price of 1 order of a bigger piece of fish at rose and crown, you can have 2 orders of fish n chips at Yorkshire :)

Thank you for this. That makes a big difference for us, too. I guess we will be eating in Italy ;)

So R&C is closed for an event? I ask only because we do find we can get walk up dining there right at lunch openings on most all trips, no ADR needed.

To answer part of the 2nd question, DS5 can go in the Pub. No age rules. We never order food there but they do serve it. We just order beers, it's a thing for DH and I, we even know one of the bartenders now, he just pours up our beers as soon as we walk in. (a sign you've been too much in 1 year, maybe?)
