Rose & Crown PUb ok for kids???

Just made an ADR for lunch at Rose & Crown Pub for our upcoming trip and now I'm thinking, "gee, is that really going to be OK for the kids?" (ages 3 and 6)

I chose it as we wanted to try something diff't in EPCOT, and looking at the menus, I felt there were good choices for all of us. We are also planning to eat at Alfredos that evening. I'm a little worried about it as well. The food was wonderful when I ate there (w/out my family) yrs ago...but my memory, and other's reviews, about the closeness of the tables...I'm just not sure it will work out w/ the kids. Any opinions on this restaurant for young kids would be appreciated too.

Here is where we have eaten previously while at EPCOT and although we enjoyed most of them, we'd prefer not to repeat until we have sampled more of the restaurants: (forgive my spelling and lack of names for some of the restaurants...I'm winging it. CS -Ctr Svc and TS- Table svc)

Coral Reef ---- wonderful as we were right by the tank. But would that happen again?

dinner at Mexico- TS --- again, lucked out w/ last min. PS that had us right in front of the volcano! The kids watched the boats, we all loved the quiet atmosphere and regrouped for the evening. Ate like kings and had a wonderful dinner.

China (CS) -- expensive, poor food, wouldn't do again

Germany Biergarten -- ok, but very loud. Didn't allow the kids or us to unwind over lunch like we usually do. Too much stimulation. Food was very good.

Le Cellier - wonderful. Great food. dd slept through it

Morocco (TS) -- loved the belly dancer....food was very dry.

The American place for burgers and fries one night (forgive me, only thing dd would eat that evening!)

While we haven't actually eaten at R&C, we tend to go in there every trip for my hubby to get a drink at the bar. I believe we have seen families with children there every time we've been inside - they also have a nice patio area. There is a restaurant area there somewhat separate from the bar area, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

If the menu looks good to you, I say go & enjoy!!!

We've booked dinner at Rose and Crown for our October trip with DD who'll be 5 by then. By all the reports I've read, it seems that kids would be fine there!

Rose and Crown is one of our favorites. On the children's menu they have something called a cottage Pie. My DS and DD LOVE this. It's a layer of ground beef, then a layer of mashed potatoes, then melted cheese. My other DS did not care for it though. I can't remember what he ate when we dined there again, but he didn't "love" it. This Oct we are on the dining plan and he will have just turned 10...so he's an "adult"...Within the last year he discoverd that he loves steak, so he can get that and my other 2 younger kids can get the kids cottage pie.

Kids are welcome at Rose & Crown - just do not go near the bar (ages 21 and older only)
The tables are separated from the bar area - as it is in our local restaurants near our home. My guess - if alcohol is served at a bar, then by law, it has to be a separate area, away from family tables, such as a 1/2 wall or hallway divider.

We will be at Rose & Crown with our kids on 7/1, for lunch

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to it. The menu sounds great and dh will enjoy being able to have a beer. We may have to try one of those meat pies for the kids. They love my shephards pie and I've never thought of putting cheese on top. Nice touch.

I am sooooo looking forward to this trip! It was a last minute thing w/ the free dining. All I need now is a ding from SWA to secure the airfare and we're golden.

I think it's great for kids. I love the fact that the kids menu has some of the same things that the adult menu has. Its a nice change from the usual stuff for kids. My kids love it here and so do me and DH! I didn't feel the tables were too close. The Pub area is totally seperate from the dining area.

We love it there! I hgave only had dinner there though. I have dined there twice with at least 4 kids at each meal. My son was 2 years old on the last trip and he found something to eat. I tried to stay with his tried and true dishes though. I didn't feel like negotiating or begging over dinner. Enjoy! We have it booked for dinner this Dec. for the third time!
