I absolutely LOVE Potato Leek Soup and decided to have dinner at Rose & Crown because they serve it there. I wanted to know if anyone has had it there and if its worth going for. Also, does their version have any sort of meat in it (i.e. bacon)? I don't eat meat and if I go there and find out it has meat in it I will be highly dissapointed..

My daughter had it on Mother's Day. I know she enjoyed it. I'll ask about the meat.

They also had the Potato leek soup at Biergarten and I loved it ....absolutely loved it.......some man in front of me at the buffet turned to me and said YOU have to have this soup......so I did and I ended up having two helpings...delicious

That soup is one of my family's favorite foods at WDW. It is WONDERFUL! I remember it as being very smooth, so I doubt that it has any type of meat in it. I think it just has lots of butter and cream. . .yum:woohoo:

Here is the recipe from allearsnet.com, which they got from the restaurant.

Potato Leek Soup
Rose & Crown Restaurant
World Showcase, Epcot

Ingredients

3 pounds Idaho potatoes
3 cups onion, diced
3 cups leeks, diced
1 TB butter
1 quart heavy cream
salt and pepper to taste

Method:

1. Bake the potatoes in a 375 degree oven for 50 minutes.

2. Saute onions and leeks in butter on low heat until clear.

3. Add heavy cream.

4. Once potatoes are done, scoop the center out with a spoon.

5. Once the heavy cream comes to a simmer, add the potatoes you scooped out.

6. Let simmer for 10 minutes, then pull off stove and puree the soup in a blender.

7. Next, strain through a china cap. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

Cook's Note: You must cool as soon as possible. If you cook the soup too long afte adding potatoes, the soup will come out brown.

It's the best potato leek soup DW and I have ever had, bar none. :)

Thanks for the recipe LSUDis!

Butter & Cream is very yummy ineed!

Looks like we will be keeping the ADR at Rose & Crown. Yeah I am so excited!!

I think I will attempt the recipe, it doesn't look too difficult. Maybe I'll make it before I go and see whose is better (I am sure Rose & Crown's will be)
:rotfl:

If you like veggie soups, try the ones at the buffet at Boma -- Butternut Squash and Carrot Ginger - yummo!
