Hello! We took our 9th trip to WDW at the beginning of June 2013, and I am slowly working my way through reviews of our amazing meals (posting them as single reviews so it's easier to go right to what you're looking for -- although I'm still on the fence about whether this approach is more helpful or not!).
Anyway, we were, as usual, on DDxDP. I appreciate there's always a lot of debate about whether the dining plans are worth it, and about whether the deluxe plan is just too. much. food. My DH loves having the whole trip basically paid for ahead of time, and I think he really likes having all the ADRs so he knows we'll be sitting down to eat in primarily TS places (since he knows I'd have a tendency to skip meals or to invite him and our DS 15) to have light, "snacky," on-the-go meals. I appreciate having the plan because I certainly do have the tendency to order the less expensive option(s) on a menu rather than the thing that really catches my eye, and I guess sitting down and stopping to eat isn't the worst thing to do on vacation
SO -- we arrived at WDW on June 7, 2013 and checked in to BC at about noon. We love BC/YC for many reasons, but the key is that nice short walk to Epcot, where we tend to end up at one time or another on nearly every day of our trips. Originally our plan had been to hit the fish & chip stand in England (I really don't like to make a lunch ADR on arrival day, just in case anything during the travel from Boston to Orlando delays us), but we knew it would be brutally hot and humid, we knew we'd need some time to adjust, we figured afternoon rain was something to consider so the idea of a meal indoors became pretty appealing. We'd actually never tried Rose & Crown and figured we were overdue, so we made an ADR for 1:30 and had no problem getting there on time.
We were given a pager and barely had time to wander into the shops across the way when it went off. And, wouldn't you know it, after all our considerations of eating TS instead of CS, the CM starts leading us to a table outdoors! My DH paused at the table she was giving us and said, "I know you're very busy this afternoon, and that I should have said something when we checked in, but I wondered if, please, there is any way we could get a table inside? We'd be willing to wait longer." The CM went back up to the podium, found us a table inside, and we thanked her profusely. She was very nice and she said to my DH, "my pleasure -- and it really helped that you said 'please.'" It really seemed like she meant it; I probably say this in every review I write, but I really cannot stress enough how meaningful it is to be kind and polite to CMs. They do seem to get treated harshly by many guests and a little kindness goes a long way.
And on to the food!!
For starters, I had:

Frisee and Apple Salad - with blue cheese crumbles, candied nuts and cranberry vinaigrette. This was just what I was hoping for -- cold, crisp, light, but very flavorful. The only challenge was that it was a little tricky to eat; the small plate made it hard to cut smaller pieces of the endive and to get a little bit of everything onto the fork. But, that probably slowed me down in a way that was good! I would definitely order this again.
DH went with:

Roasted Sea Scallops - with baby spinach, tomato and olive vinaigrette. He does love scallops and these were tender, tasty, and fresh.
DS tried:

Trio of United Kingdom Cheese - with accompaniments. If he doesn't order a caesar salad, he usually has a cheese plate! There wasn't a card with information about the selections, but the CM ran through these for him (but of course that didn't give me a chance to get the details down!). He enjoyed both the cheeses and the special accompaniments -- pretty much every place at WDW seems to do a really good job with these pairings.
DS was a little disappointed that we had made this ADR (especially on the first day, he really likes to be having park time and not sit-down-and-eat time) but he was mollified when he heard that he could still get fish and chips, which is what he and I both ordered:

I believe there has been some discussion here recently that the order used to come with two pieces of fish instead of one, but we both found the serving size to be perfect. Oh my -- crisp, perfectly fried fish, fantastic tartar sauce, a ton of fries -- what's not to love? We were very happy and very quiet as we worked away on our plates. And I loved that the waxed paper that they sit on is printed to look like newsprint (WDW seems to be losing too many of these little details lately, so it was nice to see it here).
DH wanted something light, so he ordered:

Farmhouse Ploughman's Lunch - carved ham, cheese, roast chicken, egg, and traditional English accompaniments. I would say that what was put in front of him was exactly what was described on the menu, but for some reason he said he was picturing something different. He said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dish, but that it wasn't quite the flavors he was expecting. (Sometimes when food is served very cold -- as was the case here -- it can dull the flavors; I'm not sure if that was his issue.) I think a lot of it had to do with our gorgeous the plates of fish & chips were that were sitting around him on the table; he said he'd wished he'd gone along with us and that he'd definitely go fish & chips next time.
Nothing on the dessert menu really appealed to us, and by this point DS was definitely itching to get out into Epcot! Rose & Crown was much smaller inside than I was picturing -- but the service was lovely and it was nice to eat lunch inside with AC. I would try this place again; I could see sitting out in the patio in cooler weather and maybe going at dinner so that we could have a pint (rather than iced tea -- although that was certainly tasty and right for the middle of the day!).
