We have reservations for Rose & Crown at time of Illuminations fireworks for our upcoming trip. Question i have is even though we have reservations, how does seating outdoors for R&C work? do we need to arrive extra early to wait for a table outdoors and then have a loooooong meal?

or can we arrive 15min prior to reservation time and expect to be seated like any other reservation?

Rose & Crown is our plan 'B' since there are currently no illuminations cruise openings for 3/30. we have been calling every day for hte past month hoping someone cancels but they tell us best chance is 2 days prior to our date since that is the cutoff for cancelling cruise without penalty we will keep calling right up until the cruise time

From what I've heard its luck of the draw, but maybe someone else can answer better. In our experience, we actually walked up just a few minutes before Illuminations and got a table. Ours was inside, but we could see the show from our table by the window and the servers brought my family outside to get a better view. I dont know if our situation was unique since we were the only people in the restaurant or not, but from my experience it didnt seem like it would be impossible to get outdoor seating.

It has worked for us by reserving a 7:30-7:45pm time, requesting outdoor seating when we check in, and telling the CM we are willing to wait for it. That said, we never rely on this method to see Illuminations and always plan to see it another night in case Rose & Crown location doesn't work out. Illuminations is a must do for our family.

It is the luck of the draw. A small percentage of the total tables have an unobstructed view. Everyone asks for them. They no longer allow you to wait for a patio table to open. And indeed no one is leaving them as Illuminations nears.
Arriving early and requesting one doesn't hurt, but you need to take the first table offered to you or loose your ADR. We have been to R & C many times and mabe 30% of the time have had a great patio view. And I consider that very lucky.
Even if you are seated inside or with an obstructed patio view, you can be escorted to their private patio to view Illuminations. It is a good view as well.

There is no guarantee you will even be sat outside at R&C. We went on a Sunday in September and had a 7:35 ADR for a 9pm Illumination. We had to wait 20 minutes in line to even check into the ADR, and another 20 minutes to be seated. We were sat around 8:15. We were on DxDP so we had an app, entree and dessert and found that our food came out very quickly. We were eating our dessert when Illuminations started at 9. We were seated on the upper patio level and had an obstructed view. We were invited to move to the viewing area by our server if we wanted but since we were still eating, we didn't. Since there's no guarantee where you'll be sat, I probably wouldn't go through the hassle again.
