Myself, DH and DD have a 6:40 PM reservation at the Rose & Crown for Friday, Sept. 5. I was wondering if that's too early to even try to linger over dinner and drinks in order to view Illuminations. Also, if we're that early, would it be easier to request an Illuminations-view table, or would they try to steer us away from that in order to turn the table sooner? We'd be more than willing to wait to be seated later, but, unfortunately, that was the only reservation we could get for Friday evening at Epcot.

Thanks!!

If it was like last year, you cannot request a outside table, basically you get what they give you when your reservation comes up for seating, but you can always go outside to catch Illuminations while you are dining.

In all honesty, it's not a big deal either way, you can always find another spot to watch, the parks are not nearly as packed as other times of the year.

As for time, Illuminations is at 9:00 if I recall during September, so yes, it would be pretty early, unless they are very behind in seating (which wasn't the case when we went). The meal goes quick there, even with an Appetizer, Entree and Dessert.

Thank you! It's good to know what to expect & not look like a total goon.

We've lucked out a couple of times at R&C. We had an excellent patio table last summer and watched Illuminations from that table. Of course, our seating time was 7:50. Another time, we got a patio seat, but the wind was quite strong and blew smoke from Illuminations right into us. We left and found a different spot from which to watch Illuminations. Even if you are seated inside during Illuminations, the staff will take you to a gated garden outside R&C where you can watch it between courses.

Like the other poster said, however, there are a lot of good spots for Illuminations. I'd try to change my ADR time closer to the date before I'd sit for 2.5 hours at the restaurant just to try to watch Ill from the restaurant.

We've watched Illuminations from the Rose and Crown many times, but never with a reservation before 7:30 pm.. even with a 7:40 or 7:50 reservation time, it's still a decent amount of lingering to make it to the fireworks. I don't think I'd wait on a 6:40 reservation!

Well, y'all have been AWESOME!! :worship:

We've decided to cancel our Rose & Crown ressies, & go to the Kona Café instead. I'll post the available ressies in the "Sept. ressies" thread, & pay it forward if anybody's interested.

ThanKs again, and y'all ROCK THE HOUSE!!! :cool2:

Unless you eat realllllllllly slow you'll have to either make other reservations or resign yourself to stanping up as you watch the fireworks. Illuminations do not start until 9:15. I will make a recommendation. Keep your dining reservations and go to the bridge by the international gateway to watch the fireworks. It commands a nice view of the spectacular show.
