I was able to snag a 7:50 pm reservation at Rose & Crown. Is that good for the 9pm Illuminations? I think the latest reservation possible is 8pm in July. What do I tell the server regarding the fireworks?

You shouldn't have to tell them anything. If you're lucky to get a table outside, you'll just be there. If you're inside, they will tell you when it's time to move outside to their private viewing area.

IF you happen to be seated at your ADR time, I suggest you take your time looking over the menu and ordering. Maybe order an app to stretch out the meal time to make sure you're still there at 9:00.

I read in other threads that people were getting 7pm reservations at R&C for Illuminations. I couldn't imaging sitting there that long.

We often get ours right around 7:30, and there is no problem taking an hour and a half to eat.

We had a 7:50 ADR at Rose and Crown last week and were able to get a table on the deck. I asked the server if we would be good to stay through Illuminations, and she said that the table was ours for the duration and to take our time. I don't think they even take any reservations much after that time, so it isn't as if you'd be taking up someone else's table.

Exactly. We have done this the past 4 trips and never had an issue. This summer there will be 21 of us on the DxDDP, so with the number of us ordering appetizers and desserts, I have no doubt our 7:15 reservation will last 2 hours.

We typically arrive about 15 minutes early and ask for a table outside if it is possible. We also let them know we are willing to wait past the reservation time if needed. We are always polite and let them know we understand if it is not possible, it's just a request. If we don't get the patio seating, we know there is a reserved area where we can watch Illuminations.

I think R&C frequently stops taking reservations an hour before IllumiNations on the assumption that most will remain for the show. When you check in you can ask for a patio table, but there is no guarantee you will get one. If you are seated inside or at a patio table without a view let your server know you want to go out to the viewing area reserved for R&C diners that is adjacent to the patio. Remind your server just before IllumiNations time and they will direct you to the viewing area.

We did 7:50p in 2015. Absolutely alert them at check-in that you'd like a view of Illuminations and that you are willing to wait if needed. We were seated within 20 minutes and had a great view: an app or two, a drink or two, then dinner, and it was showtime. Enjoy your trip!

Is there a difference between the pub and dinning area in regards to reservations?

The pub side is first come, first served with no reservations needed, but it's a smaller (and popular) area and can be crowded..

The dining area allows Advance Dining Reservations.

Either way, the Rose & Crown has a side patio for watching IllumiNations while standing, available to both pub and dining room patrons at showtime.

The pub does not take reservations. It is the small room at the front of the R&C. It has a very limited selection of food.

The R&C restaurant (dining area) takes reservations.

Yup, always arrive a bit on the early side, and always politely tell the host / hostess that we would love a seat outside if at all possible, and would be more than happy to wait as long as necessary to get one. Of course, there is never a guarantee, but this approach works more often than not.

Just remember that no reservation that close to Illuminations will have a spot guaranteed where you can easily see the show. You are there, you are having dinner, the servers will let you know what to do.

Wondering if any one has done this? I can not get a reservation for 5 people but I was able to get 3 reservations for 2 each, all within 25 minutes. Has anybody done this and got there early to check in and ask if they could possibly seat you together? Thanks in advance.

You could ask at check in if you can be seated together, but there is no guarantee, especially since you have three different reservation over a span of almost half an hour. Whether you can be accommodated will depend on how busy the restaurant is when you check in, when you're going, and whether a 6 top or adjacent 2 top and 4 top are available at the same time. At this point you have reservations that the host/hostess would expect to seat at 3 different two top tables. It is very possible that you could end up at different tables both inside the restaurant and on the patio.

Keep checking for a reservation that will accommodate your entire party. It looks like you won't be going for another 4 months so plenty of time to keep checking. There is also a cancellation thread for your month at the top of the Dining Reservations board that you can subscribe to.

If you're willing to sit separately then definitely keep what you got, try for an ADR all together, and if you can't get an ADR for 5, show up, ask nicely to sit together (or at least near each other) and hope for the best.

If you're not willing to sit separately, then you have to decide: is it worth risking the no-show fee if you aren't able to sit together.

You still can get lucky and find a table for 5, though.

You could call guest services, or the restaurant directly ahead of time and alert them to the fact that you would like to sit together if possible. Perhaps they could they combine the reservation?

I will hold on to the ADR's that I have for now and keep checking for a table of 5. And I will look for that cancellation thread. :surfweb:

If it comes down to it I think I will sit alone and the others can sit 2 at a table. :thanks:

Disney doesn't publish phone numbers for their restaurants so you cannot call R&C directly. Guest services does not have the ability to combine reservations.

Try looking for 5 or 6. The reservation system has a quirk that makes it easier to find reservations for an even number. The system wants to fill every seat at the table so even though a party of 5 will usually be seated at a table for 6, the system will often skip over any availability if you input 5 people. Try 6 and you may have better luck. As long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you will not be charged for the "missing" sixth person.
