we might be able to squeeze in lunch at rose and crown pub on our last day. we've never been. what do you recommend as far as appetizer, entree, and dessert. it's a new place for us, so i'd have to try one of each!

It's not on the menu but every time I have been there they have had Prime rib as the Chef's special of the day. It has always been fantastic.
I have never tried any other entree and I have eaten there 4 times. Each time the Prime Rib has been offered.
the appetizer I love is the Mushroom one. It is 4 or 5 different mushrooms in a creamy sauce with a small puff pastry along side. YUM. If you like mushrooms you will love this.
I had some kind of triple berry dessert there but only once because I was so full from dinner.
Ask for a table along the lake and you will not only have a great meal but a great view. It is better during the evening for the fireworks but it is nice to sit there and enjoy a quiet time during the day too. Peggie

I'll second the recommendation for the mushroom appetizer, and add that I loved the Guinness Stew - very flavorful. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is also very good.

I LOVE the bangers and mash!! Such comfort food!
DH had the stew and cottage pie and loved both!

I've tried both of these soups and they were both excellent!
Potato and Leek Soup - roasted potatoes, cream and leeks
Lamb and Barley Soup - traditional Scottish farmhouse soup

Excellent food!

Try their mushroom barley soup and their sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

When you get there, ask for Aaron and tell him that Carmi sent you. He was the host New Year's Eve and took really good care of everyone that evening.

I have always had very nice experiences there.

The cottage pie is quite good. Make sure you get the dessert sampler for 11.99. Has all three yummy desserts: Warm Apple Crumble, Chocolate Guinness Cake and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The dessert is worth the trip!!!

appetizer - lamb barley soup, sounds funny, but very yummy :)
entree - bangers and mash, - love it, and I would never eat that on a normal day...
or the cottage pie is good too
and the aple cobbler is yummy
dont forget the bass ale :)

Fruit and cheese plate appetizer, fish and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The ploughman's salad is also a good entree.

We were there last year & everyone was very pleased with the food. We all ordered different things - I had the fruit & cheese app, fish & chips & apple
cobler - great! :thumbsup2 I think you'll be happy with whatever you decide to order. pixiedust:
