Rose and Crown. Is is worth a chance?

Isnt Illuminations always at 9? I could be wrong. Either way 7:10 will work. We had a 7:15. Ask for a table with firework view at check in. If one is not available there is a dedicated viewing area and you can leave the table to watch.

For some reason the whole time I am there it shows 9:30 for start time

During holidays I think it is moved to 9:30. If you don't get a good view, just ask the server to show you where to go for Illuminations, and your table will be there waiting when you get back. If you have a 7:10, with a 9:30 show, I would order a couple rounds of appetizers before the entrée to slow the meal down, so you aren't sitting there waiting for so long.

Hmm. We were going to cancel our 7 p.m. R&C reservation because we figured there was no way we'd still be there for Illuminations at 9 p.m. Will they really let you take up the table that long? Because if so, perhaps we'll keep it. :)

We felt no pressure at all to give up the table. We also racked up a decent tab with several rounds of drinks, appetizers, desserts, coffee etc but I don't think they would have minded anyway. They knew we planned to watch the show from the outset.

I have never been to Rose and Crown but have heard good things about it. I am on the Deluxe Dining Plan so I am looking for places with good apps. Is this a good place to try?

Love their Leek Soup, Coronation Salad & Fish n Chips. Have tried some other dishes but these continue to be our favorites. Feel free to take a look at our photos from some of our meals there (both lunch & dinner).

Rose & Crown is one of my favorite restaurants in WS. I have made my way through almost the whole menu at this point and have never once been disappointed. And the service has always been great there as well. :)

Their last ADR time is 8 pm (at least with a 9 pm Illuminations; not sure when Illuminations is later). Between the usual wait to be seated, and 3 course meal (and order apps, they really are good - I love the Scotch egg), assuming you have a leisurely meal, there is no way you'd be done before all waiting parties have been seated.

Also, you can request patio seating. If they honor it (no guarantees), they may have you wait a bit longer for your table. But, that won't be a problem for you.

Did a 7:50 reservation at R&C and it went perfect with Illuminations. Great food and the best spot to watch the show.

Have made reservations so many times and cancelled -- can't get past the price of fish and chips inside versus out.

Thanks for the photos!

Potato Leek soup, here I come!
And my husband is also looking forward to trying R & C.

We want to view Illuminations there after
our Candlelight Processional Show :)

Is R & C a hard to get ADR for Illuminations Viewing?!

The Fish and Chips, potato leek soup, and the Stilton cheese are all amazing (actually, if you don't like Bleu cheeses, avoid the Stilton). The bangers and mash are really good. The chicken masala, no, and I really like curry, so this was disappointing.

But mix anything with some mushy peas and a Half and Half or a Blacksmith, and I'm as happy as can be!
I agree with passing on the Masala! I had it in May and was very disappointed too. Sanaa has amazing butter chicken that I highly recommend over the curry at R&C.

We've eaten here several times for Illuminations and usually shoot for an ADR time around 7:30 for a 9 pm show.

The cheese platter and scotch egg are favorite apps for our family and we get them every time . For a drink, I really like the Cider and Fireball!

I think the earliest time we've had was 7:20, but we checked in early and offered to wait for a patio seat. Most of the time there's a wait to be seated anyway, and I think they expect anyone coming after 7-ish is there for the show. Especially if they stop seating at 8 for a 9pm show. They do pace your meal out too and most of the time we are having dessert after Illuminations and having a nice walk out without a crowd.

I grabbed a 7:55 reservation for a 9:00 show. Would that be too late, or should I show up early and request a patio seat?

It can be, depends how far in advance you can book and even if you sit just before the showing you still aren't guaranteed where you will sit.

You could check in early and ask about the patio. They can't make any guarantees for a patio seat for anyone or any time, but its worth a shot. Keep in mind they do have a private viewing area for people who aren't seated on the patio so you can still see the show even if you aren't seated outside.

Cool! That will work out perfectly! Thank you

We dined there last year for the CP with the package. It was the lousiest meal of our trip. Just really meh when we were hoping for magical. It was the most pathetic cheese plate of the week (ordered probably 10 different ones), for all the raves about the scotch egg...super underwhelming. The fried fish was good. The desserts were left mostly uneaten. Every trip has to have a low point. For us, this was it (with 'Ohana as a close second).

We love RnC! The food and atmosphere are both great. As for the apps, Scottish Egg is tops on my list. If you aren't feeling adventurous they have a wonderful burger, or if you are willing to stretch a bit, bangers and mash and shepherds pie are good choices. And for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is almost as good as what I have had in England.

Would the Scottish Egg be considered adventurous? It sounds really good and with all the recommendations I feel like I have to try it.
