when rope dropping MK, what is the best time to arrive at MK with a 9:00 opening? Will catching a bus from the BC resort around 7:30am give us enough time if we are planning on riding SDMT first with no fast pass. then use our fastpasses for other popular rides. crowds are predicted to be at 2 on touring plans. (seems a little low for November). It will be a party day with early close.

When MK posts a 9AM "opening time," guests are admitted onto Main Street USA and the Hub starting at 8AM (Yes, an hour before the rides open.)

So...
There will already be hundreds of guests all waiting to make a run to 7DMT from the Hub right after the "Good Morning' show (which takes place about 8:55am) on the Castle Stage.

We haven't been since these changes have been made. If we are there an hour early, is it necessary to stand by the ropes for an hour? If we arrive 30 minutes before, is that enough? We don't need to run to 7DMT, but we would like to get a lot done before the major crowds come. We used to be rope drop people, but an hour early is a long time to stand around.

For that particular ride, I think yes. I always find that the time waiting on Main Street goes quite fast. The general hubbub seems to absorb my attention and time.

This! Last time we RD the MK we grabbed some coffee and went up to the rope at the left front side of the castle at about 8:15. We stood and chatted with the CM there and all of the people around us. Drank our drinks, ate our breakfast, etc. It went by very quickly! We were on and off Peter Pan by 9:15.

As mentioned, the majority of the RD crowd will be headed to 7DMT or PP. If that is your goal, you want to be there before 8:30 at the hub.
Most other rides will be walk on for at least the first 15-30 minutes.
We did SM twice and Buzz twice before 9:20, both were walk on.

Another option is if you can get a PPO at BOG and then you'll beat the rope drop crowds and not have to wait at rope drop for that long.

So we plan on doing rope drop on 2/29. Park opens at 9. Is leaving our Universal Resort at 7:30 a good time?

When we have RD we ventured for PPF (via liberty square bridge) or to BTM. The masses of people are usually heading towards PPF and 7DMT. So even though they do let everyone in the park by 8am for a 9am opening, I would still want to be there and lined up by the first spoke to the right of the castle by 8:15. This will hopefully give you better odds of not having a long wait. So leaving the resort by 7:30 is probably a good time.

Like others have mentioned, you can try and get a PPO BOG reservation (we are trying this). This would get you out of the pack of people. If you want to go this route you can look for a reservation and if you can't find one you can use the touring plans reservation finder, which will notify you if a reservation opens up. .

If you are traveling with little children, expect to have many fast walking around you to get to the ride.

Old thread. The OP went in November. Closing
