Rope drop or not? (in June)

Ok, June park hrs are starting to be posted now - yeah! I have friends telling me to get there at rope drop, esp when I park opens early for EMH, and then I've had friends tell me not too b/c that's the most crowded park. I was thinking, w/2 young children, we'd go to the park w/morning EMH, stay until lunchtime/early afternoon, then head back to the resort and swim/relax. Around dinner time, we'd go back out. Will this strategy work? My dh hates waiting in lines, so I would like to hit the park in the am that would be the least crowded (and I know that's asking alot for June!). Didn't know if it would be 1 w/EMH or a different one.

Pls let me know what you would do (or have done at a similiar time of yr) and why!

Thanks!

Your plan is the approach we use.

When people say "don't go because it is crowded", they mean that particular day the park will fill up fast--and if you are a non-resort guest arriving at the normal opening time---the park will seem unusually crowded at lets say noon compared to a non am emh park.

You, however, will have gotten almost all your must do's done between 8 and noon.

From 8am to about noon, you will have enjoyed many short lines and cooler temps!

I agree with the PP. Getting there at RD, regardless of whether that park has EMH at all that day, pretty much gets you ahead of the game. You will get more done in the first few hours than the entire rest of the day put together.

Ok, June park hrs are starting to be posted now - yeah! !

I was just in the Walt Disney World site and I cannot see where the June hours are posting. Where did you see this please?:sail:

I have been on these boards almost a year and everyone agrees Rope Drop is the place to be each morning.

Just got off Disney site and June hours are starting to go up...they were not up around 7 this morning....

I agree...rope drop...you can get in alot beofre the crowds and then relax a little in the heat of the day..

OP, I don't think your friends are telling you not to go to ropedrop at the emh park - I think they are telling you not to go to the emh park at all because it's generally the most crowded park of the day.

If you do want to take advantage of emh, then yes, you should be there at ropedrop. You should be there at ropedrop regardless of which park you're at. (There ARE people who sleep in and do evening EMHs, but I can't give you advice on that as it isn't my style.)

Number #1 rule - Be at rope drop (if at all possible) if you want to see and do as much as possible. For those who have been many times they may not do this because they have seen and done most of it and are interested in taking it easy and "smelling the roses". But if you have young kids especially and they are able to get up in the morning, being at RD will help you alot in getting on the rides/attractions that have much longer lines later in the day. Rides like Peter Pan can go from 30 minutes in the early morning to 90 minutes or longer later in the morning or afternoon. Why waste that time standing in line if you can be there early and do so much more in those first few hours and then spend the afternoon enjoying the atmosphere or maybe standing in the long lines for just the few attractions that are left on your list?

Just my .02 though.

OMGOSH I did not think I would be this exciting about the hours being posted!!!!!! Thank you OP!

Squeeeeeee!!! June hours!!! :yay: (Of course, I can only see AK for my dates so far, but still --- YAY!)

And to answer OP's question - yes, that's what we always do. Our little one is always up insanely early any way, so it's not even an effort for us to be at morning EMH at rope drop. So we go to whatever park is opening early, ride everything, and leave when everyone else decides to wake up. ;) Then we go back and swim and rest and head back out later - usually to whichever park the touringplans site said was the best park for the day. But not always. We just kinda go with the flow...

Yes June hours!!!!! Now I have time to tweak my ADRs before IPO makes our ressies on Sunday!

I don't understand the calendar!!! I can't see any times for June? What am I doing wrong now?

Thanks Robo, It's works when I put in June 2nd, but nothing works for June 1. O.K. by me since that is a travel day anyway!!!

OK, remember I'm fairly new here and this is something that has confused me for a while. What's Rope Drop? I mean, I realize it's when they officially open the park, but is it a different time than the posted time? Again, forgive me for the question. I'm working on planning our first trip and with all the info...it's all so MUCH! LOL!

I can just imagine Robo right now, getting ready to post his standard response to this question. Everything you need to know about RD will be in there -- you don't need anything else.

Wait for it...

C'mon Robo!! Don't let us down. We need your rope drop maps now.

We are rope dropping it, or at least as close as we can possibly get to RD. My kids are up at 7 AM anyway, why not?
