Rope Drop Frozen Tips?

Seems fair to me! I wonder if they made people show their receipt for their PPO breakfast before lining up for the ride if it would eliminate the no shows?

This would be much better and easier to implement that making pre park opening pre paid. They could start this immediately with no technology changes.

I understand this. I was referring to the idea that Disney make PPO ADRs all pre paid. What would happen to that pre payment when hours change?

1) I am not sure anything *should* change.
2) The ADR is for a meal, not a PPO.
3) With any ADR that one wants to use as a PPO, one risks park hour changes.
4) And, sometimes park hour changes are made only 1-2 days ahead of time.
. . . actually, hour changes are very frequent
. . . CM's get "Advisories" on their computer screens all the time regarding park hour changes
5) Disney should not be responsible, as they are still providing the promised meal at the promised time.
6) Plus, there is no way of Disney to know why you scheduled such an early park ADR.
. . . it could be because you wanted to get in line somewhere
. . . it could be because you wanted a LONG and LIESURELY breakfast before touring
. . . it could be because you are slow eaters and want to take time to plan your day

NOTE: If Disney charged more for a meal that fell within a PPO time, then reverted to normal pricing after Rope Drop, I could see some kind of adjustment, but the prices are the same before and after Rope Drop, so the question is moot.

All true so it is highly unlikely that Disney will move to making PPO ADRs pre paid in an attempt to curb no shows. If no shows for breakfast are truly an issue for Disney they will come up with a different solution.

We have a PPO 8:05 breakfast at Akershus in November.

I'm going in Nov too yay, and as the FP+ window is not open yet I'm going to pin my hopes on getting one. Not sure of your plans and if you're doing the early ADR so you can get a Sorin' FP+, but if not I would try to get a FP+ if you can.

Also as currently it's summertime and both FEA and Sorin' have just opened this is the main reason for the really long wait times.

I think it will have calmed down a bit by the time we go, I'm sure there will still be wait times but I will be really shocked if they are still up at the 5 hour mark.

I am hoping to get a FP for FEA and not worry about rushing through breakfast to get on the ride.:) We are not big breakfast eaters so it will be a light breakfast for us and the focus will be my DD meeting the princesses and she loves joining in the princess parade! We aren't going to FP Soarin because it is only my DH and oldest DS that want to go on the ride and they said they will just wait in line for it while I take the little 2 on something else (probably the Figment ride). November should be calmer and have cooler weather so waiting should not be as bad. Have fun on your November trip!!!:)

I think that is all fair as long as they announce the change earlier than the cut-off to cancel without penalty. One reason we like PPO meals is to get in early and take pictures in a mostly empty park - that is part of the "value" to the meal for us. For example, we had a PPO for Crystal Palace for our upcoming trip but they moved the times so the park now opens before that ADR so we will be cancelling that ADR

I really know what to do. I currently have an Akershus ADR for 3 at 8:10 on 8/5 - out last day. I was opening to eat and then go to FEA and then head to MK - we have 3 fast passes booked there currently.
Now, with all the no shows etc. I'm wondering if it would be best to cancel the ADR rope Drop MK (EMH) and then get a fast pass for FEA. We do not fly out until after 8 so we do have most of the day and there are FP's available mid-day. Downside no princess breakfast but we have done it more than once; upside we can use that table credit for our ADR @ TRex on arrival day... what to do what to do.....
I really wish we could split FP's between parks! I feel like I will be wasting 2 FP's if I go for rope drop at MK and then FP for FEA.
Just not sure....

The reason why so many people are skipping breakfast and lining up for the ride is because they are afraid it will break down before they get to ride it but from what I have heard the past few days the ride has not started up on time and if you are in standby you risk the chance of getting kicked out of line and set somewhere else if the ride breaks down. Until the Frozen ride is fixed the only guarantee you have in riding it is getting a FP for it.

1) The rumor is an increased No-Show-Penalty for Epcot breakfast.
2) Too many people are booking the breakfast just to get to new rides earlier.
3) Sure, they make the $10/person, but they lose the full revenue and the SERVERS don't get tips.
. . . we have heard PPO breakfasts will be a full pre-pay, much like reserving CRT.
. . . in this way, the eatery makes the revenue and the SERVERS get their union-contract 18% tip.
. . . if it works at Epcot, they would probably do the same for MK (and maybe AK and DHS, once Avitarland and StarWarsLand come in)
4) Actually, this see VERY FAIR to me.

I think this would be more than fair. I think it's crazy that there's a way for people to pay $10/person to be able to avoid a 5 hour wait. I mean to me, $10 is way worth not waiting in a 5 hour line (or even 3 hours). But it's not really fair to others that want to have that dining experience and now can't because they can't get an ADR and it's not fair to the servers who are staffed because it appears to be booked full and then half the people don't show.

Pre paid would be the best solution. The only thing that may complicate this is Disney's habit of changing park hours. What do you do when you have a pre park ADR for 5 1/2 months that becomes an ADR 20 minutes AFTER open.

I'm pretty sure you can still cancel a prepaid ADR as long as it's a day in advance just like any other ADR and you just get your money back. So if the hours changed and it was no longer PPO and that's the only reason you wanted it, you would just cancel it.

We have a PPO for Norway breakfast and I have a FP for FEA at 11am. We were planning to have a nice breakfast before the park opens simply to get a good meal in and fill them kids' tummies while the park is technically still closed. This way we can tour for a good while before having to stop for lunch and enjoy the hours the park is open without stopping to eat right away. My plan was to do breakfast and then the A&E meet after. Figured by then it would be about 11 am for our FP. Now it seems everyone will be rushing through breakfast and I don't want to get in trouble for my kids taking too long if the next table wants to see the princesses so they can hurry up and get in line.
We will already have been to EP two other days in our trip with a FP each for TT and Soarin earlier in the week.

Good grief!

I don't think you'd "get in trouble" for actually doing what's meant to be done and enjoying your breakfast. My opinion is you eat at your own pace, enjoy the characters and don't worry about it. If you have no reason to be out before 9 then don't stress about it. This is our plan as well granted we can get the FP+ for FEA. I originally booked the Akershus PPO with plans to get the FP for FEA and be in line early for the M&G so I thought we'd need to rush through breakfast to get over to the M&G but it appears like there's not really any need to do that. So we will now get there for our breakfast, not rush and enjoy the characters then head over to do the M&G and hopefully be able to FP FEA. If I can't get that FP+ then I'm going to need to rethink everything!
