Rope Drop celebration question

I just have a quick question about rope drop at MK, well 2 I guess.

First, and most important, I know they're closing the trains for a while in January. Will they still do the traditional rope drop if the trains are closed, or is it a different train that does the rope drop?

Second, has anyone been the guest family to ride on the train? How would you even get selected to do that?

1. Will they still do the traditional rope drop if the trains are closed, or
2. is it a different train that does the rope drop?

3. Second, has anyone been the guest family to ride on the train? How would you even get selected to do that?

1. A "version" of it, yes.
2. Nope. When the trains are in refurb, no trains run.
3. Many here have. 110% luck, coupled with arriving very early.
Wear bright Disney outfits, and chat excitedly with the CMs.

Yup, still an opening show / rope drop, just done a little differently without the train.

Nope, same train tracks / trains are used for both guests, and the opening show, just a different car for the opening show.

I have not been family of the day, but my understanding is that arriving SUPER early is a key component, then just being lucky
