Does anyone know if the root beer at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Main St. has caffeine?

I can't do dairy so I have been fantasizing about a root beer float because they have non-dairy ice cream there.
Then I remembered some Barq's has caffeine.

Does anyone know this answer or how I can find out?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they use Barq's root beer. Disney uses Coke products and Barq's is a Coke product. I can't tolerate caffeine either.

They do use Barq's. It says that on the menu. But there are two kinds of Barq's. One has caffeine and one does not. Fountain drinks typically have the caffeine but some of the bottles do not. I sent an email. I was really looking forward to this!

I found out that sugarfree Barqs is caffeine free. Non-diet has caffeine.

this is so easy to make yourself, if you are fantasizing about it... even if you can't have it at Disney you can make one at home with your choice of non dairy ice ream and caffiene free root beer!

I know, Lisa, I know. :(
This has just been my one fantasy... And it's always better when someone else makes it for you...

everything always is. Can you maybe bring a can of your own root beer with you and pour it over their nondairy ice cream? :)

Since WDW tends to use Edy's ice cream (including Ghirardelli's as far as I know, since G's doesn't make ice cream), but I can't find a dairy free ice cream in their line, are they just using tofutti?

What if you brought in a big cup and your own root beer, ordered a couple scoops, and made your own? Or asked them to put your scoops in a cup?

For me, sugar-free isn't an option, so if I need no caffeine (and I think it's SO weird that Coke kept the caffeine after they bought the formerly independent Barqs oh so long ago, especially since so relatively few people know Barqs ever had, let alone still has, caffeine), I would have to bring my own.

bumbershoot, from what I've read on the Vegan blogs, they use tofutti.

I don't know if it's available everywhere either but I do know it's at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.
I'm considering bringing my own root beer in and just asking for the ice cream.

They might even have cream soda or cherry vanilla which would also make a great float! I did ask via email about the root beer and will post if they respond.

the menu says coke or barqs. but they also have rice dream in addition to tofutti. Not sure which is better but I know a lot of people who have issues with dairy also have issues with soy so... just FYI there is another option for ice cream.

beaches and cream does ice cream sodas though and they also have seltzer and soda syrups so maybe you could go there? :)

we found out the hard way about Barqs and caffeine with a husband who can not have caffeine. he loves root beer and never thought about Barqs having caffeine. learned the hard way we have found caffeine in a few sodas what we did not expectsince then

Ok, I just heard back from Disney. Yes, they use Barq's and yes, it does have caffeine. She did tell me that it has less than coke. I can have a little bit without a negative reaction so I might just go for it. I looked it up and 12 oz of Barq's has only 22 mg (where a can of coke has 34 mg). I can't imagine more than 6-8 oz of root beer in the float. so that would be about 11-12 mg (a hershey bar has 9 mg for example). I'll think about it. I'm sure I'll be able to find something delicious!

Can you ask for the root beer and ice cream separate so you can pour in how much you want?

That's what I was thinking. That way I can see if something like 4 oz. would be enough and that would be an acceptable amount of caffeine for me.
