Rooms under pool areas -- loud?

Does anyone have experience with having a room that is under a pool area? We are booked for the tenth floor on the Dream and are nervous about the noise level. If you have been in one of these rooms, what time did the pool close? Did the music from the deck above ever bother you? Thanks for your help!

With the Dream, you may have to wait for the actual accounts.

We were considering a deck 8 room on the Wonder for our first cruise, until I read quite a few reviews from under the pool areas. It seems like the CMs clean up the pool deck and drag the lounge chairs around in the very early morning -- the scraping and banging of the lounge chairs did seem to disturb some guests in those rooms, so we booked deck 7 instead.

For now, I think all you can do is read the room reviews for the rooms under the pools on the 2 current ships. :confused3 Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! We decided to move down a floor to floor 9 instead. I can imagine the deck chairs sliding around could get pretty annoying! Hopefully deck 9 will be a good fit for our family.

I agree about the chair thing. My family just got off the Magic yesterday and were on Deck 8 below the area next to the Mickey slide and noise heard was from chairs being moved around and the occasional person running. Not horrible, but noticeable.

We got off the Magic yesterday as well and had a deck 8 room midship. Nights were not to bad, except for pirate night. mornings were the loudest with the chairs being put out. the other problem was we always got the smell of cig smoke and finally figured out on the last day that we were below the smoking spot on deck 9. Our room was 8540. Good luck planning! We had an amazing trip and are wishing we were back!

We were also on Deck 8 on the Magic, back in 2001. Right under the area of the family pool. Noise was definitely more noticeable. We were also right across the hall from one of the hot tub motor rooms, that was worse than the noise from above. We have since only booked rooms on lower decks.

adding my 2 cents worth...we too were on deck 8 Magic in a family stateroom and definitely noticed the noise-in particular during the tropical deck party (now the pirate party) which was most inconvenient as I was trying to get a cranky 2 year old to sleep.
Since we are a family of 5, we won't fit into a "regular" room and had to have the larger room. On subsequent cruises, we've actually found it LESS expensive to book 2 smaller rooms. That was the best thing-we were able to be where we wanted to be on the ship, and we actually ended up with more space. 2 cruises ago we did joining porthole rooms. Last cruise and our upcoming 2012 cruise on kids are big enough that we did a verandah cabin for DH and I and an inside cabin across the hall for the kids.
I don't believe I would ever book a cabin underneath the pools again-personally.

I think you did the right thing. We cruised in a family stateroom on Deck 8 on the Wonder. It was the noisiest room by far. Not only did we hear the scraping of deck chairs all day long, it was the ping pong balls, running, music, etc. It made it difficult to enjoy our verandah. We had a verandah on Deck 6 and it was very peaceful.

we were in cabin 8576 on the Magic... and we heard chairs scraping all night long... we were right under Scoops/ Mickey pool. I wouldnt stay in that area again..... we were in 8060 the year before...and it was soo quiet!

On our med cruise in May we booked a Cat. 5 on deck 7 and a few weeks before cruise time we were given a free upgrade to a Cat. 4 on deck 8. We were pretty excited for the freebie...but after spending time under the Mickey pool there will be no more deck directly under the pool for us, unless its the super ultra suite. It was pretty loud in the mornings with the scraping of deck chairs, etc. Also the odd time we were in the room during the day there was a constant thumping of kids running back and forth. I had the same complain in the spa...during my nice relaxing facial there was a pretty rowdy game of pickup up bball overhead :lmao:

It baffles me though...for a higher, more expensive deck with Category 4s up to the Walt and Roy suites, you'd think they'd have soundproofed it a bit better in the layer between the pools and the rooms on deck 8.

So, what is above room 8000? We got an upgrade from a GTY and I was excited. I thought maybe it is the spa?
