We will be staying at the YC for the first time from 3/23-3/28. I have heard many good things about the YC, but I was wondering if there were any rooms we should try to avoid.
Has anyone stayed in a room that they really disliked? Or, has anyone stayed in a room they really liked?
We will be in a standard room, the water views were sold out.
Thanks for any help anyone could give me.

Actually if I ever stay at yc again, it will be in a standard room only! The waterviews are mostly obstructed by trees, or you get a good view of the roofs that are from the resturants below. its ok to look straight out and see bw but if you want to watch at sab its mostly obstructed. At least if your looking at a tree, your only paying for the std. view! When we c/o they really were not concerned at all, and only moved us the next day because I insisted. I think I would ask for a higher floor cause you may get to see a little more.

We have stayed at the YC many times, and have never had a bad room. Personally, we prefer a higher floor for a better view and less ground noise.

First of all, go to the YC question and answer forum within the resorts forum. Joe Cool has a floor plan up that you can print out and have in hand when you check in. The only standard rooms that I would say to avoid would be the ones overlooking the front kitchen roof of the resort. (4224-4240, 3224-3240, 2224-2240, 1224-1240). The view isn't bad, but it's not great.

As for being far away from the elevators, I'd rather that than be on top of one. There is always more traffic near the elevators and therefore more noise. Make yourself familiar with the floor plan, and when you check in, ask them to show you where your room is before you actually check in. Once they were putting us into a 2nd floor waterview of the Boardwalk, but I knew the view was obstructed by trees, so I asked for different room.

Good luck. You will love the YC! It's our absolute favorite!:D

We have stayed at the YC and BC probably 14-16 times in the last 10 years. We had 2 rooms at the YC that required a move the next morning. The first was a room that was directly over the front entrance of the hotel on the 2nd floor. The constant car noise was bad, slamming doors, people talking and unloading luggage, etc. Then we had a room that was at the FAAARRR end of the resort, in the opposite corner of the quiet pool on the farside of the resort. It was a major hike back and forth and the room itself was a little smaller than most. Ask for close to the lobby away from the entrance.

We stayed at the YC three years ago in a room that seemed (well, it really was) MILES from the elevators. We walked and walked and turned and walked and walked and turned and then walked some more. You have to know your preferences. We would gladly deal with the noise by the elevators to get to our room quickly. Some, as have posted above, would rather have that long walk. All said, we did discover that we could get in and out an exterior door by the stairs that was close to our room that cut down that long, turning hallway but either way getting to and from our room was not quick or easy.

Trust your instincts on what you and your family enjoy and have a great time!
