Okay...have heard comments on room issues on new magic. Was hoping that when anyone sails they could come to this threat, put their, room number, and make any applicable comments. It will be interesting to see if things slowly start to get better. Will also help those who haven't booked know which rooms to book or avoid!

Just to add - NO ROOMS were gutted to studs and rebuilt. All rooms will have the same walls (which may or may not be dirty), bathrooms/showers, closets & desks. If you had a rusty worn verandah before, it's still the same.

The new stuff is carpet, bed/bedding, couch & cabinet instead of steamer trunk.

I don't think it's going to vary much room to room.

Of note, we know the suites were redone, but I doubt they were gutted - probably just new carpet & furniture too.

You don't think they would have redone the verandas?

Anybody have a picture of the cabinet that replaced the steamer trunks? I really liked those steamer trunks. :(

It's better than the trunk I promise :) Will post soon - in port waiting to re board.

Here are some pictures from Scott's twitter page for the dirty verandah for those questioning.

That's disappointing that there weren't new desks and verandahs weren't redone. On my last Magic cruise 3 years ago the desk was in bad shape, and the verandah was rusty. Wow. I would've hoped that areas that guests use the most (their cabins) would've been taken care of.

I agree. The color of the bed was much darker than the desk area. The bed looked modern and new while the desk looked a little outdated and old. The bed was very comfy...so thats good!

LOL! He tweeted earlier that you were awesome for bringing him pizza. Wanted to tell him you were even more awesome for bringing us all this information. He brings the awesome pictures though so kudos to him too!

You know most if not all of this sounds like a lack of quality control. Even if they didnt gut the rooms, if they were CLEAN with a fresh coat of paint or even dusted! My Mom works for a resort and she checks each room before it is marked available for the next guest... who is doing this for DCL? This is what they are know for and why we all pay top $$ to enjoy it. We can all overlook unexpected problems, but it seems a lot of this was just plain ol' sloppy and that shouldn't be allowed. Shouldn't the captain be proud of his new ship? The ashes in the verandah, lack of working plumbing and layers of dust in the room wouldn't be acceptable on any cruise line... let alone DCL.

Cmon DCL - you can do better!

Agreed. I'll be on the Magic's next sailing. I'll be curious how much is at least cleaned up.
