Roomkey as ticket and fastpass?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am confused about something. I have used FP before but I have never been a resort guest before... I know when you just put your paper park pass in the fast pass machine... but for resort guests isn't your roomkey your resort passes as well? Wouldn't that be more of a credit card and how does that work with FP and the turnstyles?

You "can" have your park tickets on your room key if that is what you choose... If your park ticket is on your room key then yes...the room key is what you need to insert into the turnsyles and the fast pass machines...

We always have our park tickets included on our room keys. Less to carry and worry about. You also have the option at check in of setting up your room key with charge privileges. If you accept this the Cast Member at your resort desk (at check in) will ask for a major credit card. They then link your room key to the credit card. You can then carry very little cash around and charge food, souvenirs, just about anything you want to your room. You can get a print out of your charges at any time. You get a complete listing at check out.

The Room Key/Fastpass/Charge Card/Park Ticket is very handy. They are the size of a credit card and make great souveniers for scrapbooks. Made of durable plastic, they don't fall apart like older ticket media did.

For FastPasses, you have to use whatever media you used to enter that park. So if that's your room key that has your ticket on it, that's what you need to use. For us, we have a room key and a separate Annual Pass so we have to use the Annual Pass for FastPasses.
