Roomba reviews?

I’m looking to buy a robo vacuum. Are the pricier roomba models important or would the lower end ones do fine? I’d like to program it or be able to use the app while I’m at work, preferably while no one is at home and hoping to vacuum one whole floor per day which is about 1200 sq ft per floor. We have mostly medium pile carpet but also some hardwood. Did you have issues with the dust bin getting full before it was able to finish?
Thanks in advance.

I think it depends on if you have pets. We have a hard time with the dust pan filling with ours because of heavy shedding pet hair. I can't remember what model we have. I think if it was just every day vacuuming without the hair, it would be fine.

My bin gets full just doing my master bedroom. We have a dog.
I don't really love the Roomba. I find it needs babysitting if an open floorplan and does better if I break up the areas using virtual walls and/or closing doors to do one space at a time.
I much prefer my Dyson cordless.

I like the Roomba for getting cat hair from under furniture (beds, couch, dressers). I agree that the bin is too small to use as the only means of vacuuming if you have a pet, but it still can be useful.

Thanks, everyone. We do have one cat and worried about her fur filling it up quickly. I could do a room at a time.

my DD has one, she has less problems with the dog hair (a little shi-poo), biggest issue is all the hair that gets vacuumed in the bathroom from the 12 year old brushing and styling her long, very long, thick hair.

Thank you. I have long hair too so I expect it may get stuck in the rollers.

I had a roomba and had to baby sit it. constantly. Biggest hang up was hanging up traveling from solid floor (brick) to a rug. Then if the sofa or La-Z-boy was just a little to low to go under or right at the level of the roomba, it would jam or just keep knocking the furniture, never giving up. It's like leaving a puppy in the house alone: gets in trouble.

I've had two older models and the same as everyone says - fills quickly especially with cat hair. What I had to finally accept was it doesn't clean anywhere near as well as a standard. And yes, as mentioned it can "get in trouble" and need human intervention. I'd never want to torture my cat with having it stuck and revving until it died. I've now just gone back to a great Shark standard vacuum.

The other thing that no one talks about it the need to take it apart to thoroughly clean it after virtually every run (at least in my house with cat & human long hair). You can quickly kill a Roomba if you don't do this. Luckily I'm handy & actually like the routine of taking it apart & putting it back together. (I'll thank my childhood around mechanical tools, LEGOS, etc. And yes, I'm a girl!) You need to not only empty the bin, but also clean off the filter and remove both rollers to remove all the hair.

I love my roomba for daily pet hair detail - I suggest getting a maintenance pack to go with it that includes more brushes, filters, and rolling bars (or whatever the rubbery rolling thing is called). When the bin fills up and the brushes are full of hair, I just swap in new brushes while I clean the other ones. That way it can go back to work quicker. We have four dogs, one of which sheds more than the others - his thick white hair creates puppy sized balls of hair that are never ending. The roomba helps with the basics and day to day vacuuming. We pull out the big main vac once a week to do a better job. We have wood floors downstairs where we use it, but recently added a large jute rug in the living room - it hasn't had too hard of a time with the new rug, just rolls right up there and does its job!

I do get tired of how fast it fills up with hair. For Christmas I'm crossing my fingers for the new version that empties itself when docked.

Haven't ever used one but seems like a pricey way to vacuum your floors, all of the ones I see online are several hundred dollars. The small size will probably be an issue since whatever collects the dirt will frequently fill up. Pet hair could be an issue. Probably also want to see how long it runs on a single battery charge since that could be a concern in a larger house. How long does the battery last before it needs to be replaced and how much do they cost?

We had a cordless string trimmer for the yard and it was cheaper to buy a new trimmer instead of replacing the worn out battery.

It's a great concept but the small bin and the daily need to empty it made it questionable for me. I bought two of them from Woot! but they didn't last over a year and I didn't feel they were worth the full purchase price of a new one. I'd rather just grab our Oreck and give the area quick vacuum.

I bought one for $255 and I LOVE it! I have a lab who sheds and I do empty it every 3 days, maybe more ideally every day, and I no longer see dog hair on the floor!!!

Which model do you have and can you use the app to start it?

Thank you. Yes, the tiny bin does seem... inadequate.

Good question. I hope someone can provide their experience with the battery life.

Which model was this?

Sounds Lovely. Thank you.
