Room upgrade

I think it's true to say that most of us daydream about a mega-upgrade.

It looks like a lot of folk have been and/or feel that they have been either mis-quoted or taken out of context.

It may be a good time to all stop and remember that in written communication, without the aid of eye contact, voice tone and body language, it is more difficult to convey the correct tone and the way it sounds in one's mind may come across differently in text. However I think it is fair to say that in this case, especially regarding Disneynut's first and second posts, (and there were other contributers misquoted too) not everyone has actually read through the messages properly. This is by no means pointing fingers or singling anyone out and does not mean that everyone has to agree; the beauty of these discussion forums is being able to get varied opinions which help in making decisions .... and also to share our hopes and wishes, whether realistic or not.

The main problem on here that keeps recurring however, is that folk are not reading all the posts and seem to be skimming over the thread and then posting without going through all the information.

I know that I am probably speaking out of turn here and will take the rap for it, but this one is really bothering me for some reason. Perhaps because over the last 10 days or so there seems to be an increased degree of hostility on the main boards than usual and a lot of the time it is down to threads veering off topic or deviating from the point and assumptions being made. Nobody wants to be flamed; but even worse is being flamed for something you didn't actually say. Yes, it is a discussion forum and no, we are NOT all going to share the same points of view. But we don't have to agree on everything to show a little bit of consideration and courtesy to each other. I really do think this is the friendliest of all the boards on the DIS and think it's a little sad that the OP is a long-standing and active member of the boards who has only ever contributed positively and received a rather (IMO) hostile response.

I've opened my big mouth now and having had the brass to speak, I will take any criticism that follows. But I felt something needed to be said.

Thank you for posting this 2Tiggies Although I've been a member of the DIS for a while, I rarely post anything of great importance mainly because I don't want my post to come across the wrong way and offend anyone! I often re-read my posts and make many changes before 'letting go'. I do find the people of the DIS very friendly and helpful, it's just the way I am.

Back on topic - OP, I hope you get some pixie dust sprinkled for your trip

We was lucky enough to get an Upgrade when we stayed at AKL we was upgraded from standard room to Savannah view on the Arusha savannah,I was sooo excited when the Cm was explaining where our room was as I knew itwas the best savannah and only one with Zebras!! Thing is I heard so much about people who stay long trips dont get the upgrades ...well.... We was there for 3 wks and actually had 2 rooms booked BOTH was upgraded for the whole stay.

I have to add that I dont think this thread has gotten as bad as the main board threads,but that it may seem harsh as the UK side normally seem to be brilliant at answering without any sort of "Bad tone" to the posts .....
Over the last few wks i have posted on the main boards in various sections only to be spoken to in the most disgusting way! I was actually pretty furious at one point when a poster decided that i HATED my ASD child & that my son was a burden on me and I was treating him as if he was damaged (even though nothing in my post suggested anything of the sort) . I decided to stick up for myself as the poster had been pretty bad to quite a few others and i ended up having Pm's of support saying how they was hurt and upset for me!There are others on the most simplist of questions that get so out of hand,for examply cost of babysitting!!
it seems the main boards have gotten really nasty and i dont feel like posting on them anymore as theres always sombody who decideds your wrong and they will argue it out even though you decide not to argue and its an opinion and nobodys opinion in WRONG.

Sorry but like some others Im so sick of it,And im really pleased the UK boards are nothing like that its refreshing and still a complete joy to look at daily.
