Room Upgrade Query

We are staying at the Hard Rock travelling on a package with Thomson Holidays.

Would we be best to arrange to upgrade to a deluxe room direct with the hotel well in advance, or wait until arrival and see if its any cheaper? We'll be there for 14 nights in August.

We did this with the Sheraton Safari last time, upgrading to a suite before we left and just paid the extra at the desk.

What do you think? Any tips?

I asked a similar question about upgrading a room in WDW hotel, and it appears to be cheaper to do at the resort.

For example, Virgin are charging £43 a night extra for the room I want at AKL. I have heard that the same upgrade done in resort, is around £26. You could always call the hotel direct for a quote and see how that compares with what Thomson would charge you.

If done at the resort (HRH), a room upgrade to Club (7th floor) usually costs $35.00+tax per night if upgrading from standard garden or pool view.

I,ve noticed that deluxe rooms only sleep 3 and there will be 4 of us. Are the club floor rooms std rooms sleeping 4?
