Room Upgrade at AKL

I know that this question has been asked quite a lot but I was wondering whether if we check in and haven't been lucky enough to receive a "free" room upgrade, whether I can ask for one and pay for it if I decide that it would make the holiday extra special?

We arrive on the 1st July for 14 nights - don't know whether that makes any difference!!?

We've always gotten the free upgrade, but we never go during the busy seasons. I think you'll be hard pressed to get any upgrade period, paid or free if you wait until you get there to ask. The week of the 4th of July is very busy at WDW. I suggest that if you really want an upgrade, call and do it now. If getting one isn't all that important to you, ask at the desk when you get there anyways. It certainly can't hurt, and you might get very lucky. Have a great trip!
