"Room Type Unavailable" Question

Hello everyone. I'm hoping a few Disney Pros can help me out.

My fiancé and I will be honeymooning at WDW from 11/7/2014-11/13/2014. I was looking at which resort for us to stay at and I was hoping for either the Contemporary or Bay Lake. However, a lot of the rooms say room type not available for the dates, party size selected.

My questions are:
1) Is there some large event going on? I'm a little shocked most everything is already booked here.
2) Does Disney keep some open and will release them at a later date?
3) What are the odds of me checking back daily and some opening up?

Right now I am just looking online and I'm not sure if calling would make a difference. Contemporary has a few rooms (at $1,000+ a night..yikes haha) but was wanting to get some opinions on what plan of action you would take.

Thanks!

The contemporary is a big convention resort, so rooms could be released once the convention or events get closer - our wedding was 11/2/12 and I believe the rooms in our wedding room block that didn't get booked got released on 10/3/12. A month out may not help you too much though.

For BLT, it might be too early, I think the rooms available for cash bookings for non-members become available at 5 months out, but I could be 100% wrong about that. Hopefully someone will come along and correct me.

Keep trying though, something may open up due to cancellations.

We just returned from the BLT.... First time there, first time renting points...

We went thru DVC Rental Store... Transaction was smooth, no problems and decent priced over anything else.... Check them out...!

That is Veteran's Day weekend, end of Jersey week, end of Food & Wine, I think there's also a marathon. You may want to call, there have been reports that the website doesn't have all the availability. You could try renting points but those are probably pretty booked up already too.

Just a curious question...

We are booked this week as well. We picked it because it was a very low crowd week (3s and 4s). But unavailability of rooms seem to indicate a potential for larger crowds. What am I missing?

conventions take up a lot of resort space but not necessarily PARK space.

FREE DINING also starts on November 9th. Try running your dates with checking out on the 9th. If there is availability up until that point, FD could be the answer.

But as PP said, that's also a super busy weekend with Veterans Day, the marathon, end of F&W, start of MVMCP & Osborne Lights. Crowd levels the 4th & 5th are at a 4 but double by that weekend.

This, plus free dining. I'd imagine the results you're finding are accurate. Your best bet would likely be renting DVC points.

I would be pretty surprised if there is still availability for DVC resorts for that time, except maybe AKV, SSR, or OKW.

I checked the DVC website, even those resorts are soldout over Veterans Day Weekend (Nov 7, 8, 9).

You may want to try Poly or Wilderness lodge as they are both in the Magic Kingdom area.

You can book DVC rooms for cash through Disney at just after 11 months usually.

Yeah, looks like they are both booked up minus a few club level suites.

It looks like the Grand Floridian has availability...that would a good substitute.
