We are making our first trip to POR this month. Anyone have a room suggestion for me? I would like to be near the first bus stop that picks up, as well as the dining area/lobby. I am thinking Alligator Bayou would be the best. I would also like something quiet, i.e. I do not want to face a swimming pool. Any suggestions? Thanks!

if you didn't book a water view, you will probably not face a swimming pool. You should let them know that, though, when you check in.

The best buildings for what you want would be in this order:

14
15
18
27
16
17

When you check in, you should politely say "If possible, could we be in the Aligator Bayou as close to the Main Building as possible, preferably not a pool view." I have always had them try their hardest to find what I want at POR.

Have a great time, you will love the resort.

We are just back from POR and we were in the AB section, building 39. It was interior, did not face a pool or parking lot. Short walk to fishing hole and main pool and main building. Closest bus stop was North depot. The bus routes pick up at the South depot (main building) first after POFQ, but then continue around the loop to West, North and then East before leaving for parks. We found it better to get on at North, then had only one stop before leaving out of the resort. Of course, if we were in the main building at the food court or gift shop, we would just get on at the South depot and ride around. This was our first stay at POR and I was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it!

Can I hijack your thread??

I need a room close to the parking lot as I'll be leaving my personal wheelchair in my truck and I really can't walk far. Plus I need a ground floor because...well me and stairs aren't friends. Those were my requests. Should I have been more specific? At the time I didn't have a map to look at and I'm not at all familiar with the resort.

I'm planning on calling to confirm this and I was wondering if there is anything I should add.

Thanks!
Kimba

You might want to request one of the Mansions. The back half of each building is close to a parking lot. And these buildings have elevators. (At least, I'm pretty sure I remember an elevator in the last two Mansion buildings I was in.)

Welcome Back from POR!
How were the bus rides?

We have 5 people in our family so I'm pretty sure we have to stay in the section with the trundle beds. The mansions don't have them - do they?:confused3 If they did that would be great!!

You are correct. The mansions don't have trundles. Sorry.
