I keep looking at pictures of the rooms that people have posted in the past and remembering the rooms at the resorts I've stayed at thus far (Contemporary and POFQ) and I'm just not impressed at all! What gives?! You would think for close to $350 a night for most deluxe resorts you'd get...well...a deluxe room! Most of them look outdated, run down, with poor designs/artwork/bedding. Am I just a room snob or something? Sheesh, The Four Seasons in Maui was $400/night and it blows any Disney resort away! Same for every Vegas hotel I've been to...Venetian, Bellagio... Am I just not finding the right resort photos? Can someone tell me which resort I should be looking at? For the $$$ we spend on a deluxe resort I should feel like I'm back in Maui at the Four Seasons...not at Holiday Inn.
Hope I'm not offending, but I need some advice from more experienced resort stayers at Disney!
Thanks!
No offense here! I am a room snob. I have travelled a ton on business and have had the pleasure of staying in nice hotels, on my work budget...not my home budget! So I'm used to, like you, a bit nicer hotel for the money. Hubby has learned to deal with me on vacation...I like a nice room. Or better yet, I like a room that matches the pricetag. I don't at all mind a Hampton Inn, at a Hampton Inn price. But when we went to Maui, we stayed at the Ritz...at a Ritz price...but with Ritz service.
That said...In Disney you are paying for an experience. Not triple sheets. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and although it was pricey, was great. With two little kids we were paying for the closeness to Magic Kingdom, bunk beds and the other little things Disney offers.
You're not a room snob at all!! Just someone who wants want you're paying for!
) and came across the Hilton at DTD. I could get a concierge level room for just a few $$ more than I would pay for a room at a moderate.
They also have better sheets and more deluxe amenities there. The Hilton blows the Dolphin out of the water from what I saw. I would be willing to stay at the Swan or Dolphin at concierge level for the same price that they have at the Hilton, if the Swanolphin had CL level services.
