Sorry if this was covered recently ("search" seems to be disabled) but what is the "standard" or what do people do for tipping room service? Is it "included"? If not, should one tip for a meal vs. a snack? What amount? Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi, haven't cruised as of yet, but everything I have read says $1-$2 for room service, I plan on travelling with about $100 in 2 dollar bills for room service, porter tips, cab drivers etc. I work in a bank so I can easily get the 2's, but you might have to ask your bank in advance if you want them.

$2 seems to be the norm, if you order a complete meal for your family, you may want to do a little more ($5?)

From what i've read from other posters the usual is around $1 - $2 pp so if you got two meals may only be $2 but if you got 2 meals, desserts and drinks maybe $4 would be more appropriate, i'd love to hear what people tip though so i can budget for this , we'll probably have room service daily for breakfast for 2 ads and 1 ch so what would others suggest as a tip for this meal ?

We got breakfast just about every morning, coffee, milk and pastries/krispy kremes to hold us over until we went to the real breakfast and we did $2 each time. Same thing at night for cookies and snacks. One night we did do much more, chicken fingers, cheeseburgers, cookies, dessert etc. and we tipped $5. So if your just ordering the basics I would say $2, but for a lot, we upped it a little. That's just what we did so ......

I don't know what an appropriate tip is for a room service breakfast.

But here's my breakfast tip ... We enjoy going up to Topsiders and going through the breakfast buffett. I usually skip on the eggs, pancakes/waffels and meats and stick with the croisannts and then go to where they make made to order omlettes - very, very good!!

We did the same, usually $2, but more if we ordered a large amount of food. We kept some of the money in a drawer that everyone knew so that if DS's (11 and 14) were in the cabin alone and wanted food they could pull out tip money.

did somebody say Krispy Kremes???

How do they get those on the ship....are you just funning me??

They are there and we had 'em. They get them frozen. They will send them with room service (you may have to mark your card to request them), but they are on the buffet at Topsiders in the morning as well.

The donuts were great and I thought they tasted like KK. Then I saw a CM returning with a couple of empty KK boxes. I wondered how they kept them fresh. They don't taste like they've even been frozen.

I have never had a Krispy Kreme what are they all about?

Krispy Kreme's are the Cadillac of doughnuts. They are the yummiest, melt in your mouth glazed doughnuts you will ever eat. When you order them from room service or get them from the buffet, are they warmed up, or just thawed and room temperature? Warm Krispy Kreme's are to die for.

Ooops, I tried a Krispy Kreme ONCE and got an instant sugar headache. :faint: I think they are too sweet for first thing in the morning, but might be okay for a snack later in the day or evening.

As for tipping, when my family order snacks (cheese tray, cake, cookies), we tipped $2.00. When we ordered sandwiches and desert, we tipped $5.00.

Yes, they really serve Krispy Kremes onboard. We saw them loading them onto the ship from our verandah at Port Canaveral. My oldest daughter just loves KK donuts, so we took a picture.

Hi, First time writer on these boards. I've just been reading all of the great info. Question regarding room service... Am I reading correctly that it's free? Can you actually order room service early, let's say for breakfast, and then still go to Topsiders later and eat as breakfast as well? Thanks for helping me understand

Yes, Sonney. Room service food is free, as are non-alcoholic drinks. You can have room service and eat at any restaurant or snack location as much as you like.

:hyper: WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!!

Yes, room service food is free -- unless you order something NOT listed on the room service menu, then you have to pay for the special order. However, soda is not included and will be charged to your room. But you can go up on Deck 9 to the soda station and get that free.

And yes, you can order from room service 24/7. We even ordered sandwiches the night before, wrapped them, put them in our cooler and then took them in our collapsible cooler on our shore excursion. When you order breakfast, you do it the night before and hang the order on your door. And be warned, whatever time you pick -- they are PROMPT! It is, however, a great wake-up call to have room service knocking on your door.

Enjoy....:p

I know we have ordered things there were not listed on the room service menu and were NOT charged any extra...maybe it depends on who you get on the phone taking the order. I know my kids orderd sandwiches that were not listed.

I love this site! Thanks for the quick replies. Can't wait to leave on our 2nd dcl cruise in early Dec. I wish I would've seen this board way back when and gotten all of these awesome tips.
I've also enjoyed seeing all of the different locations that people are writing from as well. I'm now down in sunny Georgia, but dh and I grew up in the North Jersey and Jersey shore area.

Actually, maybe they don't do that any more. I was going by information I had read during our first cruise in 2000 about ordering off of room service and "special orders" being extra. However, since then they may have changed that policy to accommodate whatever you order. Since we've never ordered something not on the RS menu, I had no way of knowing.

Thanks for the info...::yes::
