How do you tip for room service. Do you give them cash. Last time the server just left the good and I didn't get a chance to tip or see somewhere to write it down.

So, my experience was that they would give you a slip- that you could put your tip on (I got those about 75% of the time) But if it was busy- they wouldn't leave a slip- just the food. (so I didn't tip those times) I don't know if I was right or wrong- but if they don't give me a way to tip them- then I didn't go chasing them.

I did some research on this, because I wondered why people ever brought cash for a tip, when you can sign the slip. Our first 2 cruises we signed the slip each time, because it just seemed easier than bringing cash. When I looked around, I found a thread where someone directly asked a room service attendant what is preferred and finally pulled an answer out of them. Apparently when you sign the slip, the tip is split between people, and it comes later. When you give cash they get to keep it all, and immediately, from what I remember. So I will be brining cash for future cruises.

I use cash.

I per-make tip envelopes and pre-load them with $2. I have a big clothespin that is decorated and magnetic that holds all of the tip envelopes. As we order room service (usually coffee / tea), I will instruct the server to grab an envelope (or 2 if we order more). The servers seem to be in a hurry to get to the next cruisers. This works for us and I have not had any problems.

I already have our envelopes made for or cruise in august.:thumbsup2

I didn't know about the slip option. We always tipped $5 in cash. There's 4 of us.
