Room Service Coffee - Order night before?

We are going on our first cruise in December, and I keep seeing people say to order coffee from room service the night before and drink it in the morning. Am I missing something? Why wouldn't you just order it that morning, or ask them to deliver it at a certain time?

I get that it will still be warm, but why not order fresh or have fresh delivered?

I think people mostly do this on debarkation morning when room service is not available. My mom likes to order the night before so she can roll out of bed and have coffee without waiting or having to get dressed enough for room service to come in. The carafes do keep the coffee hotter than you might expect.

As noted, room service stops the last night (I believe around 1:30-2:00am) so you can't order "regular" room service.

Yes you can give a set time and it so breakfast each day out out a card on your door the previous night with a delivery time.

Cruisers do not do I just do it on disembarkation morning but all the time to get a fix of coffee before new room service delivery.

This way, I can get coffee whenever I want it (I don't always know when I'll wake the next morning), don't have to get dressed to get it, and, most importantly, don't have to risk the room service knock/transaction waking up hubby and the kids (I am an early riser, so it is great to take my tray of coffee fixings out on the verandah and be alone with my thoughts, watching the sunrise, before everyone else in my group starts their day.

It was hot, but I don't think it would scald you if you spilled some on yourself. Still steaming when I opened the carafe. I would order just before going to bed (usually between 11 and 12), and open it up around 6, but it was still hot around 7:30 when I had the last cup. As for quality, I didn't think it was as good as my local coffee house (who roast their own beans), but certainly as good as I've had in any hotel and most restaurants. For a really good specialty coffee, I had a card that I used at the Vista Lounge and Cove Cafe (Dream) where you bought 5 (I think) and got the 6th free. Really enjoyed the espresso there.

Is the regular coffee better at Cove or did you order specialty drinks (lattes, etc)? Do you remember how much they were?

I didn't have regular coffee, I am a big fan of lattes. I did order a Cafe Americano (not on the menu at that time, but I was assured by Josef, the barista, that it was a really good cup of coffee) with milk, and it was excellent. The card didn't seem to track anything other than cups purchased (as opposed to $$$ spent), but everything was within about $1 or so price wise. DH actually got the card when he went on what he termed "a humanitarian mission" to find me caffeine on embarkation day (very stressful moring, but that's a whole 'nother story), and we used it easily during our 4 night cruise.

Not to hijack, but does anyone know if the coffee cards from Cove Cafe can be carried over from cruise to cruise? I think we have 3 or 4 stamps on one and we will be doing a B2B in February. I'm pretty sure I read on Cruise Critic that some people leave them tucked into the bible in their stateroom, so that's why I am not sure. TIA!

Generally 7:00 am to midnight, in my experience.
