Room Safes???

When we went last year, it was colder in WDW than it was at my house in Alabama. We were glad we had packed those heavier clothes. I was supposed to be warmer, but wasn't. By Friday, I was wearing a 2 piece long sleeve sweater set and a heavy coat, gloves, and a scarf, and I don't really get very cold in the winter, I hardly ever wear a coat. It wouldn't have been so bad if the wind hadn't been blowing and a couple of those days were cloudy, but at least it didn't rain, not that that would have stopped me.

:scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:

Two adults, 3 adult children, 1 5 y/o granddaughter = too much luggage for the airlines for a week's worth of BOTH FL heat and FL winters!!! My brain's going to go TILT here pretty soon!!

Oh, I don't envy you at all. There are just 3 adults and we loaded down a minivan last year, and that was for the trip down, we were squeezing things in for the trip home. That minivan was busting at the seams. This year we aren't renting a minivan, we are going in my 2000 Saturn L2, but we won't be going for as long and we won't be buying very many souveniers this time either. We are also going to leave the cooler at home too. I have the largest suitcase, then DH has a small one and mom has a smaller one, cause she puts most of her clothes in one of those hanging bags, but we take our own pillows (can't sleep without them) and a bag with extra shoes, my backpack and camera bag, my CD's and my portable DVD player, and maybe a blanket or two. Good thing I don't fly, cause I would have to own my own plane.

If you don't have space...you can always ship your souveniers! No sales tax either!

How safe are the room safes? Are they safe enough to keep your passports and extra money in? jewellry? Does anyone else have access to them?:santa: :santa:

Hi debbiet1, here is a picture of the wall safe in our room at Pop. It was large enough to hold my laptop (shown in the photo), our passports, wallets, and a bunch of other smaller items. It was surprising to me how much you could stuff in there. They aren't deep but they are tall. As was mentioned in previous posts, this one was opened with a key.

Oh thats great thanks for the pic :)
lol@1 suitcase each.. OMG.. I wish.. there are 4 of us.. i've got everyone a suitcase, with 2 extra suitcases. I have a carry on bag.. hubby has a carry on duffle bag. Kids are each bringing backpacks. lol
I was checking accuweather for their 11-15 days and it shows that its supposed to be at least 75 on the 18th.. so hopefully it'll stay that way or get even higher. I dont mind cool in the evenings, just not the days. Ohhh.. plus.. add a christmas tree into one of those suitcases and a mickey mouse head wreath I made. lol

What's a Mickey Mouse head wreath, if I might ask?

I was considering sending something down for my daughter/granddaughter's room since we're arriving Christmas Day. Someone had suggested a florist down there, but I'm sorry, $150 for a small tree is WAY out of my budget. My tree at home doesn't even cost that much!! :headache:

I made a wreath in the shape of a mickey mouse head. Much cheaper than buying one from the florists. I said the same when I saw the price of the trees, so I went to walmart and bought a 3 ft fibre optic tree for 15.99 and thats what we're taking with us.

I felt the same way, but if it's the memories by betsy, if you look at the ornaments and how many they are and figure out how much they would cost, while it's still expensive, it's a lot more realistic then you might think :).

Now the disneyflorist one I thought was too much, they have like a 250 dollar one or something.

I went from firmly against it 'no way I'm paying $150 for a 2' tree, to almost doing it, to 'we really dont need that'. And that's where I stopped at. :goodvibes

It's my granddaughter's first trip to WDW, so I thought it'd be GREAT for her to have a small tree appear in her room on Christmas Day when we arrive...but I know it won't be anything for $150 or even close to that...ornaments or not....someone said there was a shop in DTD that had a Christmas store w/some in the $30 range...thought I might check that out down there...a small fiber-optic? Now that's a thought, too!!

If someone would've told me when I was 18 that I'd even be THINKING of this kind of stuff someday, I'd have said they were nuts....sheesh....

Then go find the ornaments that look like that, and add them up. After I did that I wasnt so put off at the price for hers. Again, I didnt do it, but I 'almost' did :goodvibes to have an actual WDW tree.
