Room reservation minimum amount

Anyone know where I can find the terms and conditions of what the minimum deposit should be from the website? I am midst reserving 2 RO at WL for a party of 5 but need to show where it states $ to be held since it's 1 MDE login but many ppl contributing to payment.

RO deposit is one night's stay, so it's not a fixed number and varies by the room booked.

It's one night's lodging (with tax, I believe), for each room.

When you get to the payment screen, you will see the deposit amount. There's a pop-up note that says: "Deposits for room-only reservations are equal to one night's room price plus tax."

I think this may be different if you book by phone or they may have changed things for 2018.

When I booked a room only reservation for April 2017 by phone with WDTC I paid the 1 night room rate as the deposit. I just booked a room only reservation by phone with WDTC for 4/2018 and was told the deposit was $200. I was worried when I saw the charge on my card as a package so I called back to confirm the details. I was told that a room only reservation is now called a basic package and the basic package does not include any kind of ticket, dining plan or trip insurance. The room reservation already shows in my MDE app with no dining or ticket, as well.

She initially said $200 but then clarified that that was a "room package" (with a cancellation date of 30 days before check-in) and when I asked for "room only" (cancellation date of 5 days before check-in) she told me the new price. Sounds like it's not consistent.

It has something to do with Disney phone CM's subtly pushing a "basic package" vs a room only reservation, which sounds like what happened to you. Unless they have totally overhauled things for 2018, I'm a little suspect of what happened to you as this really sounds like a basic package to me.

I'm suspicious, too and I'm currently waiting to speak to an agent. There was no subtle pushing here, it was done without any memtion at all. Thanks for the info!

Yes, I heard about this on one of the podcasts, I'm not happy with the package cancellation policies. The problem is that she never said anything about a basic package and I asked very specifically for a room only reservation. I'm getting it fixed now and will be sending an email to WDTC about this (if I can find their email) and filling out a survey at the website they offer at the end of the phone survey.

Room only the deposit is equal to the first night of your stay. So if the room the first night costs $185.24 that's your deposit, and the balance of the room (plus tax) is due at check in.

Sorry, I don't know. This is new to me as well. But it looks like @Marionnette has provided the up to the minute details.

I don't think there's been a change. I think what happened to JoanneAZ is almost exactly what happened to me. I specifically asked for a "room only" reservation. The CM said, "no problem" and then quoted me the $200 rate, and started going on about the 30-day cancellation policy. I'd specifically asked on these boards just the day before on the 5 day cancellation policy for a "room only," so I questioned her on that. That's when she said, "Oh, well, this is a room package, the 5 day cancellation is for a room only." I reiterated that "room only" was specifically what I'd asked for and she changed it. That's when I was then quoted the new rate of one night's deposit.
